UMES
Coming off of our comeback win against GSU, we have an improved MEAC team coming to the Ted for a rare Friday night tilt.
UMES has won four out of their past 5 and are 5-7 overall.
Wins: Mount St. Mary's, Fordham, UMBC, NC A&T, and Navy
Losses: Villinova, VCU, Bucknell, Detroit, St. Francis, and NC Central
They have competed better as of late, but we should win this game in dramaless fashion.
Thoughts.

RE: UMES
Coming off an emotional win, I predict a sloppy win in the 10-15 point range.

This is going to be more challenging than most people would expect. I wouldn't be shocked to see the game tight at the half before we separate in the final 10 minutes.

As long as we win. I would actually prefer we win this one without a stellar performance. We want to save that performance for Monday. W&M can be a tough out even if we play well if their shots are falling and Thorton goes off.

As usual you did a great writeup of this game on odubleedblue. I was not aware of UMES' s inside presence. I too think the Monarchs will come out focused, and will need to be. I don't think this team is going to suffer this season due to a lack of focus.
ODU 78 - UMES 65

That's the benefit of having depth. We have guys like Palmore, Douglass, and Biberaj that can come in and compete if someone is not on.

I would like to rest Ross, but might need help inside. Think we see Nik and Douglas some in this game.

Yeah, I'd sit Ross for this game. Maybe dress him just in case he is needed. I think we should be able to survive without him and we need him to be as close to 100% as possible on Monday. I get back spasms all the time. When I was 22, they would last about 2 days if I rested. Now they last about a week, though I haven't had them in over a year (knock on wood).

I get them myself once a year. Here is what I discovered:
Do not use heating pad. Feels good, but will keep you in bed for a week.
Use Ice. Will be up and around in a day, albeit gingerly.
Mario Mullen use to have issues with his back.

RE: UMES
I think Denzell Taylor gets the start over Ross this week. Both to award Denzell for his performance on Wednesday, and to help Ross rest, at least for a little bit.
I'd expect to see a lot more Douglas, Biberaj and I think that Clark will get significant minutes too. This is going to be one of those games that Arledge is important for us. They've got one senior 6'9" forward, and two junior 6'8" forwards. Without Ross I think Arledge will be a big part of containing those threats.

Sounds like a good plan to me.

Don't forget about my man Joe E! This is the type of game he can spark the team.

I agree. perfect game to get him going. we should be good enough to beat UMES w/out Ross.

RE: UMES
Back spasms suck. I used to get them a lot myself when I was more active. I'd be walking a long and boom in the bushes as I fell over. Then you're in knots for days. Painful.

I love Joe E! Yes, very modest talent, but quiet, workman like, very focused, knows his role, always looks to be giving 100%, and just seems like an all around good guy.
