JMu's problem the last two games has been their shooting. For some reason, Kent and Nation can't put the ball in the basket from the field and from the line.

if we shoot from the FT line well and box out, i think we can win any game. Gotta keep that mentality. This Ball state team just played a pretty good valpo team close, no game is easy on the road.

I'm not sure why posters keep insinuating that Nation has ever been a good jump shooter. He is mediocre at the very best and I've never been impressed with his FT shooting. His strength is defense and his jumping ability. I do think he has a good BB IQ, but wish people would stop expecting him to be something he is not.

Now, with that being said, I almost always drink the purple Kool-Aid, JMU 63 Ball State 61.

Well, Nation was a .731 FT shooter his Freshman year, second on the team behind Devon Moore. I suppose we're all waiting for him to return to that form.

It's his confidence. If you see him during team warm ups he's almost ALWAYS practicing free throws instead of anything else...he knows it's his weak point and so it's in the back of his mind every time he steps up to the line.

Confidence is a large part of any scorers makeup. And I agree that he isn't playing with confidence...or swagger...whatever other term fits. He's had his sails trimmed (deservedly so), and how he gets his mojo back is up to him. He could completely tank the rest of this season (and next), or grow up and start playing ball again. Right now the jury is out which way his mental makeup will fall.

Fair point about his jump shooting- I think when he's at his best he's a small forward who playes a little bigger than his size because of his leaping ability. I like what he can do around the basket on the baseline more than I look for him to drain 3 pointers.

Road game. We're historically a bad road team under Brady.

Do the math, and it's a close game.

Winning on the road generally in college basketball is difficult. Not sure how Brady's road record compares to the overall average by year. Do you have those numbers 2004?

Nation was never a great shooter, but hes a walking turnover machine so far this season. He has more TO's than FG's made so far this year, almost double TOs to assists. He still seems rusty to me.

He is supposed to be a All Caa Type performer but so far (in limited time) he has been far from it. His EFG% is way down from last year and is more comparable to his frosh year. He obviously is a great defender but his offense eff is struggling- too many TOs and EFG% down.

Good news/bad news though, because there is no reason to think he can't find his old form, and when he does the team should be much better off with the All CAA Nation everyone expects.
