In terms of head coach, he's either d3 or class 5a high school.

D1 recruiter for sure.

At his current salary there would be no takers IMO. I think the next level down would be his next (last?) shot. But someone would take a chance on a guy who 1. Can recruit, 2 is a good promoter, and 3, will not get them into trouble with the NCAA. A place where the expectations and stakes are not as high. If he makes it there, maybe he gets an upward move. If not, a valuable assistant somewhere. No shame in that.

A bunch of schools. Memphis is a totally different animal then 95% of the other programs.

He would be hired by a good program in the role he's best suited for. Assistant coach/head recruiter.

Some guys just aren't made out to be high level d1 head coaches. He's not.

There's plenty of mid-majors with no real winning tradition that would be happy to hire a shepherd of the program. Not expected to win anything more than a conference championship every few years and keep the kids graduating and out of trouble. Dozens of those programs out there.
