Obama Blames “Polarization Of Society ” On Social Networks…
[Image: r2ngaa.jpg]

Nah, nothing to do with the constant race baiting by the Obama administration and its allies.

Quote: President Obama says that social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter are an “interesting phenomenon” in politics, particularly because they have the ability to polarize society.

During an interview on ESPN radio, Obama was asked by host Colin Cowherd about the impact of social media on the country and whether it was getting too nasty.

“Social media does have this ability to channel people’s rage and frustration and sometimes nastiness in ways that polarizes society,” Obama admitted.

Obama added that the power of social media was “not going to put back in the bottle” because “the technology is there.”

I agree with that.

In the brief history of "Social Media", there is certainly no other politician who has benefited from its power as much as Barack Obama has benefited from it. No one else even comes close, really.

Obama has done more to divide this country than any social media has.

RE: Obama Blames “Polarization Of Society ” On Social Networks…
The internet in general has created a polarization. It has given a voice to any idiot that previously would have been ignored. Social mdia has only made it worse because now that information can quickly and easily be distributed to millions of eyes. Some people think that because someone can create a website, they're smart and they should listen to them.

Not only that, but advertisers and content producers on the internet design their platforms to follow you around based on your interests. You are spoon fed things that already reflect your current opinions. Over time, almost everything you see comes from within the bubble you've created around yourself without even knowing it--because that is what the advertisers and content producers want. It helps their bottom line to feed you things that already align with your opinions, interests, and beliefs.

I'll add to this that 24 hour "news" networks have also contributed. There isn't enough truly interesting news around the world for the average person, so instead news is manufactured.

No one has divided Americans more than he has. Men vs. women, white vs. black, old vs. young, etc. He has a special talent for pitting American against American. There's got to be a chapter about this in Rules For Radicals.

Even CBS is bagging on Obama.

Quote:After President Obama was sworn in as the nation's first African-American president, Americans had a bright outlook on race relations: 66 percent of Americans in April 2009 said race relations were generally good.

More than five years later, the latest CBS News poll shows, views on race relations have dimmed dramatically. Just 45 percent say race relations are generally good, the lowest figure in CBS News polling since 1997.

When you have a President that truly hates the foundation of this country, the fact he has caused the division he has was to be expected. The ironic thing is that many that voted for him truly believed voting for him would help unite this country.

Social media has a way of allowing people to show their true racism.

At the NYC protests yesterday, the common chant was: "What do we want? Dead cops! When do we want 'em? Now!"

I'm not going to comment. The chant speaks for itself.

In my view, Obama had a golden opportunity to ease racial tensions but instead chose to squander it playing the politics of pitting one group against the other. Rich vs poor, black vs white, immigrant vs citizen, and on.

Some people are uniters - some are dividers. Obama is a divider, that will be his legacy.

men vs. women
old vs. young
white vs. black
citizens vs. illegal immigrants
police vs. blacks
Christians vs. secularists
rich vs. poor
taxpayers vs. government

So many divisions, nearly all created or exacerbated by Obama.

Obama tried to unite but the GOP vowed to obstruct him.

What did Obama try to do that was obstructed by the GOP? The GOP didn't make Obama say the Cambridge police acted stupidly. The GOP didn't say Obama's son would look like Trayvon Martin. The GOP didn't force Obama to invite a race hustler to the WH dozens of times. The GOP didn't force Obama to meet with looters in Ferguson and offer them support for their looting.

But you didn't know Mexico had slavery so I wouldn't expect you to know this.

C'mon Fit, you're better than that. You're going to try and claim that the only way Obama could unite people was through legislation? Give me an 'effin break.

Not to mention that he had a supermajority in congress his first two years in office, guess he squandered that time period as well.

This thread is hilarious, OP blames Obama for polarization, but uses a highly polarized talking point as justification.

Can you not see the hypocrisy here?

The hypocrisy is that Obama would blame social networks and yet is blind to the fact that he's done little to nothing himself to ease any of the polarization.

There's your hypocrisy. The OP just points it out................

I guess we will just have to agree to disagree. Kinda hard to ease the polarization when the conservative party has its head stuck in the sand pretending that race relations are perfectly fine, and there are no disparities in how the justice system treats people of different race/wealth.

You wanna mention my hypocrisy? This is a textbook pot meet kettle moment. Your side has a "my way or the highway" philosophy on this right now then are blaming the other side for not working towards the middle.

kinda hard to say the other side isn't doing enough to work with you to resolve the issue when the GOP position is that the issue doesn't exist in the first place.
