I did, since when? They put that whole announcement out that they are ready and they are just waiting for a spot in the OVC to open up. You have new info? links?

http://www.una.edu/division1/

They were talking about a move in 2011. It fell apart in 2012.

It's been dead ever sense. They also had a major backlash from students who weren't interested in an increase in fees of between 7-20$.

There is more info on it in the Times Daily archives.

But the move is completely dead.

In classic Florence fashion talk just died out.
It says it's been delayed and that W.Georgia may also be interested, however they missed their 2013-14 goal of D-I transition year, but that has 100% to do w/ them not being invited to a conference. I get you on the died out, outta sight outta mind thing, but if EKU or Belmont join another conference, it will wake up again. Kinda like Tarleton St. and the SLC is alive again after being left out when they added UCA & TAMUCC, then weren't involved in their last expansion but now that ORU left the talk has heated up again.

Yea, I was trying to find the Times Daily article where students rallied against fee increases which has out the whole thing to bed but couldn't find it. Still, I vividly remember it.

WRONG, as usual. It's still going to happen. As far as that "student rally" only about 300 students out of 7,000 voted. My sons said they, nor any of their friends ever heard anything about a vote. Rigged. Why would you want to let a bunch of children who will be long gone in a couple of years determine the future of the university? If you let them run things there will be no tuition and free beer.

You better watch out for Fresno. He knows his stuff more than you on the North Alabama. That is why I am keeping them at the top of the list for a future invite.

Like I said, glad you are still hopeful but it's dead, very dead.

UNA has other very serious issues to deal with before a D1 move makes it back on the radar.

Mark Linder is a fairly good friend of mine; I do a lot of work with him through the Shoals Chamber. It just isn't happening.
