Iowa State is an AAU school and probably has the world's foremost vet and ag schools, and the USDA national labs. Yes, you can even see the cloned 10 foot chickens as you drive by on I-35.

I just cleaned this up. If you get off at poking at people's weight, sexuality, etc, just go ahead and continue. See where that gets you.
I'm on a deadline, so I am signing off. I come back to this thread and it degenerates again, there will be problems.
Now, back to B12 conjecture, enjoy your evening!

Check the Athlon Sports Mitch Light on Sports Night segment.
Around the 9:55 minute mark.
Mentions Fred Smith opening the checkbook.
Is Mitch Light related to Mick Light????

besides, didn't Texas just install new leadership?
Dodds isn't there anymore. New blood in the AD office may be more favorable to us.

I live in Nashville and he has been the radio for quite a while. The shows host is Nashville radio legend named George Plaster, whom at one point called Memphis games. They both know a lot of people and they aren't the sort to make things up or act silly for ratings. On top of that, they never talk about Memphis because the two cities don't get along. IMO, they are decently reliable. There is definitely smoke.

Thanks for the answer tnzazz...
Does the Nashville-Memphis bad blood originate from the Titans home field bid, way back when? Or is there more?

Lots of reasons--outside of west Tennessee, the state is more hill country culture, Appalachian, white, country music, closer to Kentucky in that regard, etc. Memphis is flatland cotton plantation, black, blues, more like the deep South and Mississippi. I lived 2 yrs. in Nashville and even noticed the difference in accents.
So, the area east of Memphis has always viewed the city as the big, bad ghetto city in the state, and Memphis has sorta viewed them as country hicks with banjos.
Also, for a good century Memphis was by far the largest city in the state and the most prosperous. When I lived in Nashville, it was about the size of Little Rock. Now it's bigger and more prosperous than Memphis.

Why do people keep mentioning Tulane? The Big XII doesn't care about AAU or "bordering states" or "institution type". The Big XII wants athletic product that is ready-made and can deliver some sort of result. Tulane is about 4-5 years away from that (by my estimates).
That is why Cincy + Memphis makes sense. I would also put CSU here, but they just celebrated receiving a buyout after losing their HC. I don't think that's a good look.
BYU is another option - but it would have happened by now...

Is Texas that spiteful? Is adding Tulane some perverse way of gaining revenge on the SEC for taking Texas A&M?
I actually can see why Texas likes us - but there are going to be about 5-6 very pissed off schools if Tulane joins. The Tulane move only really helps Texas (and maybe the OK schools as well).
Why would Texas do something so selfish that it could destabilize a couple of decent members? Dodds isn't there anymore...
