To all of the people on here who have been fighting the idea of the BIG12 expanding, this is the Elephant in the room, no championship game no playoffs!
Expanding the conference just so they can have a CCG will cost each Big 12 school millions of dollars each year. And for what purpose? If they had one this year, the committee would still have only been able to pick four teams, and the Big 12 could still have been left out. It's not hard to imagine that they would have been left out, just because the two teams in that CCG would have been TCU and Baylor instead of Texas and Oklahoma.
And if TCU and Baylor happened to have two losses each going into that CCG, winning it would not have helped them.
As i said, the BIG12 is in the process of petitioning for a conference championship game without needing to expand to 12 teams, so obviously it's not there 1st choice to expand. Now if that fails to happen and they are still required to have 12 teams in order to have a conference championship game, then yes they will expand. At that point it's not a question of "if", it's "when" will they expand. there reasoning will be playoff access. How long will the cash cows (UT,OU) stay in a conference that is getting passed up for playoff spots on the last weekend of college football? I realize that the scenario that played out this year will not happen every year but i guarantee it will happen again. I also understand that a championship game does not guarantee a spot in the playoffs for the winner but it will at least give them a fighting chance. I mean TCU won bye 50 points and dropped from #3 to #6 for god sakes. that should be the only evidence you need to support a championship.
Let me get this straight...they want to stay at 10 Schools...play everyone once and play a Title Game against someone they already played against to determine a Champion and the B1G, SEC and Pac 12 are going to go for this even though they were force to go to 12 in order to have their Title Games...ok...

So basically a P5 conference has to have at least 12 teams in order for any of its teams to be considered good enough to be in the playoff. Makes sense.

I was super impressed with the committee. They did a great job under difficult circumstances. I thought each week their rankings made sense based on the body of work to that point, and it was micro thin at the end.
It's a great new system, even though it didn't work out this year for us.

I don't see why the other P5 would object. They are happy with their lineup of schools, not sure why they would begrudge the Big 12 being happy with theirs.

We shall see...if they grant it they will ALL want something in return especially since they now know the Big XII is at a disadvantage....JMO...
