Playoffs scenario
If FSU hangs on to win then either the Big Ten or the Big12 champ is left out of playoffs.
I think we are going to see an 8 team playoff a lot sooner than many thought. They can use all 6 bowls they currently have for playofs. If that happens I see the one G5 champ in there.

RE: Playoffs scenario
With only 4 slots, we all knew at least one conference would get left out. That will certainly irritate some year after year. But the straw that breaks the camel's back? I think it is going to take a year where two conferences get left out.

Worse case is if the B12 gets left out due to not having the CCG. That will force them to expand to 12 so they can get that game. Either the AAC and/or the MWC would be raided in that case, weakening either of those conferences to the point where the G5 could be in real trouble. This could get even worse if the G5 loses more schools then just UAB.

B12 is on outside looking because they think they are special and don't need a CCG....which cost them millions. Good job Texas/Bowlsby.....good job.

So you're saying this could be the start of a slippery slope to where every G5 school either moves to a lower diversion or drops their program entirely at which point UAB will seize the moment to become the only G5? That's crazy.

Imho, the only thing better would have been if Texas itself had been on the cusp and left out.

RE: Playoffs scenario
Danny Kinnell (sp?) said Ohio State should get in over Baylor or TCU because Ohio State is a brand name. So I guess we should limit the NFL playoffs to the Steelers, Patriots, Cowboys, and 49ers.
TCU's only loss was to Baylor (61-58). Ohio State's loss was to Va Tech. Which is less embarrassing? And the Big 12 is better than the Big 10.

Big 12 gets left out. In the playoffs will be FSU, OSU, Oregon and Alabama. Big 12 adds Cincinnati and Memphis.

TCU is 1 play from being undefeated. FSU is 1 play from having a loss. Both should be in.

Either that or they petition for a waiver to have a championship game with a 10 team conference.

The team that lost at home to a 6-6 VA Tech squad should not be in.

Buckle up boys and girls, the realignment wheel is about to spin yet again.
Who's it going to be this time?
I'm saying UC and Memphis/ECU and South Florida and UCF.
This could also be the last straw and signal the movement of Texas and company out of the Big 12.
We'll know in a couple weeks. This has got to sting the Big 12 something awful, (Assuming they do get left out).

I kind of agree with that....Cincinnati for sure...a race for Number 12 IMO with these schools in the following order...BYU, Colorrado State, Memphis, SMU, UCF, USF & ECU....
I know some movement will happen if the Big 12 is left out. As to what that is, well it's all speculation.
I could also see the Big 12 being the first 16 team conference. Here's why;
They could place all the original schools, UT, TT, OU, OSU, IS, BU, KU and KS in the west so they can continue to play each other every year and put TCU and WVU in the east with the new schools. Adding, UM, UC, ECU, USF, UCF and Tulane.
I'm not so sure that the Big 12 wants to expand in both directions. They want to keep as tight a conference as possible and expanding both ways would be counter productive. So, I think BYU is on the outside looking in.

Hopefully that sets the wheel in motion for realignment and lets us form a new conference with the MWC for best of the rest with an automatic berth to the access bowl.

Yes. I think the death of the SunBelt. The AAC & MWC aren't going to continue to raid lesser conferences. Let's say the B12 raids us for UConn & Cincinnati. We create a new conf with BYU and the MWC.
East:
Temple
Navy
ECU
USF
UCF
Memphis
Houston
SMU
West:
Boise St
Fresno St.
Colorado St
San Diego St
BYU
Air Force
UNLV
New Mexico
The AAC & MWC back fill with CUSA. CUSA backfills with SunBelt. There aren't enough members of the SunBelt to form a conference. Some schools drop football rather than go independent.

Money, money, money.....where is all the money going to come from to add all these teams? The B12 will grudgingly add two teams....and stop as their financial motivation to beyond 12.

The B1G is weak. Picking Ohio State over TCU or Baylor because Ohio State has a brand name is pathetic. TCU or Baylor would thrash Ohio State.
