I'm not. It's his nature. I had a forlorn hope he would step up and fight behind the scenes, and speak in front of them if that failed, but knew that was an extremely long shot.
In his place, I would have told Watts the same thing I told him yesterday, word for word. But I realized some years back that I am not sane by everyone else's standards.

The other thing we don't know is what Clark was told would happen if he didn't take the money. The NDA money that Mackin, Garrison, Reynolds and now it appears Clark has been offered is nothing short of bribe money to not tell the truth. It is the same principle that sent Don Siegleman and Richard Schrushy to prison. The only difference is that lawyers drew up the agreements that let the money flow.

where does this leave those who claimed the lawyers were ready to be released on this & Clark was fighting the decision? Has he, too, taken his money and run?
Solomon story here:

From what I understand, that agreement is part of the letter on intent for his contract that he signed when he first arrived. Obviously, he didn't know any of this was happening at the time. He never signed an actual contract, from what I understand. He is not taking the money and running as you suggest.

So do you think he has cause for legal action? Do you think he's willing to go through with it?

I'm very confused.
If Clark did this to get his assistants taken care of, then yes, I'll give him a pass. Also, no coach who still wants to work can be seen suing a school. Clark has to move on with his career, and we will have to fight on. This was and is our problem, not his.
I wish him well, and I'll cheer for him wherever he goes.

That sums up how I feel.
It was nice, for a while, to have a glimmer of hope. For that and his genuine investment in UAB, Coach Clark more than deserves a pass for taking care of himself and his staff. I truly wish him and everyone associated with him well.

RE: Jon Solomon CBS story....with disturbing Clark info
If "prior intent to destroy the UAB football program" is an important factor then it goes back to the hiring of Neil Callaway over the candidates UAB really wanted or even to "Black Friday". The system BOT has been actively pursuing that goal since Gene pumped up the first UAB football in B'ham. They only strike at UAB when there is evident improvement instead of consistent failure (check back and you will see little fuss when UAB was going 2-10 or 3-9). Clark going 6-6 in his first season was the "final straw" in their way of thinking.

I would definitely watch Clark coach a few games at Samford next fall if that's what it comes to! I even believe he might be a better fit for that school's culture than UAB...

Oh yeah all that faith and family stuff, the team going to church together? They would be really lucky to get him, especially since they wouldn't have to pay him, given we would be doing that for them to the tune of $500k+ the next two years.

There's never enough money to run the program, but there's never a shortage when it comes to paying people off and getting them to shut up.
