We sit today at 313 in Sagarin which is EXACTLY where we were on April 7, 2008.
A 6 year journey back to where we started.
Ben Braun will never work again.
A small but very hard to disguise blemish on the resume of Chris Del Conte.
Braun and Greenspan decimated the program. I would lay probably 60% of the blame on Greenspan, because Braun at least had us trending upwards until we had the mass deflection, which I'm sure Braun didn't help with, but appears to be rooted in Greenspan being a jack*ss.

Greenspan was the straw that broke the back on some of the defections and one of the worst hires ever, but this was way more on Braun (and Morcos). Frankly, I think hiring Braun is a pretty big blemish on CDC.
The sad thing on the season in the wilderness is that they had a horrible rash of injuries (I still remember Chris Hagen screaming when he blew his knee out in front of a crowd of 200 at the AstroArena, a year or so later he dropped like 46 points on someone wherever he transferred to). That lame duck team never had a chance and if you look at the roster, I think they would have clobbered this year's team.
I think Rhodes is doing great stuff, but the talent pool is very limited.

I think we had two or three football players go and play for the team so that we at least had some warm bodies on the court.
The only highlight from that season was when Joey Dorsey dunked on us and it made the Sportscenter Top 10. Us students had been ragging on him all night so he made sure to remind us who was boss.

Whoever decided to hire Morcos deserves much of the blame. Him being a sleazeball was known to the public at the time but was ignored since he was bringing guys like Kazemi in.
The same can be said for whoever was responsible for Slick Rick. I guess decimating 2 programs wasn't enough, so they wanted him to have a shot at a third?
That is what I like about the Rhoades hire - up and comer with potential as opposed to a rehire who is only affordable to Rice because no one else wants them.

This is the legacy of CDC. And having 50 security black suits at BSKB games for crowds of 200 while spending nothing on marketing.

Chris Hagan transferred to Midwestern State in Wichita Falls. (BTW: #8 on U.S. News ranking of Public Colleges with the Cheapest Out-of-State Tuition & Fees: $9,703.)
On Dec. 13, 2010, Chris set a school record by scoring 50 points against Cameron in Lawton, Okla.
The previous record of 46 points scored had stood for 48 years. (Roger Ellis, vs McMurry on Feb. 27, 1962; matched by Earl Beechum against Monmouth on March 8, 1966, in the NAIA national tournament in Kansas City, Kan.)

My Rice basketball fantasy involves watching Kazemi play defense in Coach Rhoades's system.

I remember him as a pretty decent player and always wondered why he transferred.
