Well the vcu vs. Illinois state tonight should be fun. It will be interesting to see how vcu handles the 1-3-1.

Looks like ODU went to "War with the Rams" and started some stuff.

For those who don't know what I'm referring to,

fair enough but it really is a shame that our game atmosphere doesn't even compare.

ODU doesn't need a song. The students don't need to draw attention to themselves either. The focus should be on the game. All I ask is that the students make noise to rattle the opponent. A stupid song or catchy chant ain't gonna do that. High decibel noise is what is needed. The Seattle Seahawk fans broke the decibel record not by singing a cute little chant but by making pure unadulterated noise. Noise disrupts the opponents' concentration not catchy cheers or chants.

Well, unadulterated noise and architecture. That place traps the noise, allowing it to reverberate. There is no way 67k fans in Seattle are louder than 100k in Knoxville, Tuscaloosa, College Station or Ann Arbor. They just have a better stadium design.

But they weren't disqualified because of the architecture. They hold the record despite the overhead canopy. But that's not the point.

We just need to make some noise at our games.

What? No one said we needed a song. No one said anything about drawing attention to themselves either. All I mentioned was that our game atmosphere doesn't compare. Even still, songs and chants unify the student body and guess what else they do.. facilitate the process of developing an aggressive game atmosphere.

But you wished ODU had their game day atmosphere which includes songs and catchy chants. I thought that was what you were alluding to. They also like to draw attention to themselves.

The only thing that students and fans can reliably do together is make noise or chant ODU. The students and fans need to be one. Noise is the only unifying method.

I really don't need anything vcu has. Ugly, noisy gymnasium. Can't even understand what they are chanting or singing or whatever they are doing. They have little ealse to do there.

RE: Knocked VCU Down
ok... rpi scenario. We want VCU to get back in the top 25 for rpi. But... what if they lose to ISU like we did and then go on to right the ship. That would be optimal but not sure it would matter in the algorithm?

RE: Knocked VCU Down
Tonight's game between the two shouldn't have a big effect on ODU. We do need VCU to right the ship in order for it to stay a "good" win. And we need Illinois State to keep winning so it doesn't become a "bad" loss. Obviously, ODU needs to keep winning for it to matter but those two things would be great for ODU's at-large hopes. But anyways, go redbirds.

I think we want ISU to win this. Not sure though. Just watching without emotion.
