I don't do Facebook, but my daughter says Spann has updated his page to show the ongoing protest at UAB, and states this could be the beginning of the end of the undergraduate programs at UAB.

He goes on to state this information is coming from high-level employees at UAB.

THIS IS NOT JUST ABOUT FOOTBALL!

This should get all students and faculty riled up.

I know he's the weather guy on local news but does he have any other role in all of this?

He's involved in a lot of civic things, like I believe he's on the Board of Children's Hospital of Alabama (which is affiliated with UAB), he's been involved in UAB Basketball events a few years, etc.

Don't know if he graduated from UAB, but at one time his son was a UAB student.

James has been very supportive of UAB. He was the auctioneer for this year's the Blazer Club football season kickoff rally.
