Practice facility is a big issue. Just google the talk from John Thompson about the practice facility at Georgetown.

JJ fan here.

Never have questioned the way he coaches the way I did BT (I'm not very basketball savy) until UTSA. We were blowing thier doors off by essentially running an uptempo transition game. The big UTSA players were definiatly sucking wind. Seems like we have an endless supply of quality guards and small forwards that can run these bigger slow players into cardiac arrest. I wish he would consider this style of play versus some of these big C-USA teams we play.

EDIT: Seems like that is the way we caught up with and beat GA STATE.

I think the only issue is we are really bad in transition. Bacote is really the best one to run out and get to the hoop. Freeman is decent at it, but he's much better exploiting the mid range jumper. Palmore is good in transition, but he has other faults. Ross/Douglas are really the only bigs you have to be concerned with in transition. Baker, Mosely, Arledge, Taylor are pretty sad in transition.

The TED is quite often not available for practice due to all the shows and concerts held there.

Every rim, backboard, and site line is different so why not get used to the rims, backboards, and site lines you are going to be playing with when it counts over half the time?

Dear Coach JJ, boy that convincing win over LaTech was like a "50 shades of grey" on our struggling relationship.
Now if we could only get every game at home, we'd be unstoppable

Were you being restrained and disciplined while watching the game?

High Road Harry here.. Thought I should actually post something about the Monarchs.. Hoping this is the spark to set the fire for the remaining schedule. Get a few on the road and close out at home. For the RPI lovers .. We got a great boost as well. The JJ statue can only be erected when we get to a sweet 16.. Give him a few it may happen.

RPI back into the top 50 at 47.

Still thinking we have to win out to the CUSA finals to get an at-large. A loss there would put us at 26-7.

Gotta show we can win on the road this week.

Even at 25-7 with a RPI of 35 and a 7-3 record vs the RPI 100 will be tough to keep us out. If we win out we will be 24-6 and likely face WKU again in the quarters. Beating them again gets us to 25-6 and likely facing La Tech which will not hurt our RPI of resume all that much regardless.

Keep an eye on William and Mary and WKU. Those are three potential RPI 100 wins that are currently just on the wrong side of the RPI 100.

If we win out regular season I imagine our RPI settles in the low 40s.. Win one game in the conference tourney may have us on the last 4 out ..get it to finals I too agree we have a shot.

All good points. William and Mary is at 103 right now.

I never thought we would get in after getting shellacked by Mason in the CAA tournament that one year, so you never know...

I agreed with the way you see it until recently, but I don't see us getting an at large as CUSA's 4th place team. Maybe if we only end up a game out of first somehow, but it's tough to overcome the fact that three teams in your own conference are ahead of you. I know VCU did it their final 4 year, but it was pretty surprising that they got in too.

Lose the next game in the semi's to La Tech and the RPI is 36

Lose to UTEP in the Championship game and the RPI is 34

Great work .. We need the 4 spot. I have "clown idiot" feeling we will pull this off.

What if we win out to 27-6 (I know long shot hypothetical)? Would that be good enough for an 8/9 opposite UVA?
