I hate to tell you but you are in for some hard times in FBS football. You will not get your way and everything will not be happy times. You will be left out of bowls at some point in the future in any conference unless you get to a P5 conference.

Try going 11-0 and getting no bowl. Ever done that?

You were on ESPN on a nice night against a top conference opponent with bowl eligibility on the line and you had almost nobody there....and you want to blame it on the conference? How about YOUR FANS? You haven't proved to any bowl yet that your fans can travel 10 feet much less 10 hours.

So join the "we want out of the Sun Belt crowd". Maybe we all should. Maybe we should all leave and form a new conference that has 11 bowl tie-ins. Then it would be utopia.

Kind of hard to prove how well your team travels to a bowl game if you've never been invited right?

Also I guess you didn't watch when we played at South Alabama and they had about 10 fans in their stadium and they were playing for their 6th win.......???

Your argument is very weak.

Truly, Mobile area fans aren't very familiar with Texas State, sadly. Most of them remember that Frannie coached there years ago when it was known as SWT. If they had of known more maybe there would have been more in attendance. You all do have a beautiful stadium, campus and town.

Frannie did Coach that big school in Alabama, right? Don't get me wrong, I do love that very small town on the peninsula headed towards Florida. However, TEXAS has the total population of the SEC (exception Florida) and more. Now Mobile is a quaint little town, but don't you forget, your lone conference mate from Texas, is Texas State.

For now, anyway.

Here's my logic. I live in Texas so a 2 hr drive to an event from my house does not constitute that I'm going to stay overnight much less more than one night and make a trip out of it. Overnight stay = more revenue spent with bowl and surrounding community. I drive over 7 hours from my home in Texas to my Deer Lease also in Texas. So hopefully yall get my drift, a 2 hr drive in my life doesn't mean I'm staying the night. Might be different in Arkansas, Alabama, or Louisiana but again a 2 hr trip doesn't mean I'm staying the night and spending money. Remember to look at the whole picture. REMEMBER Not just butts in stands its butts in restaurants, hotels, shops, stands and tv viewers.

I'm just 1 Texas State fan. With the number of alumni and students it's not absurd to think there is not a comparable amount of fans that would make that trip and stay more than 1 night versus the pool of 11,000+ students and alumni that South Alabama has or even make a good showing at the GoDaddy Bowl.

Comeon my WHOLE ENTIRE POINT is that yall are sleeping on my fan base and using the economic factor as a reason we didn't get an invite. The reason is it's geographical not economic and that's why we are upset. We are a University that resides in Texas where everything is BIG. We can match whatever perception or turnout will happen with the current invites, except Louisiana. Can't touch them yet.

Actually, USA has 16,000+ students enrolled.

TxSt enrollment, 36,790 - We will probably be capped at 42,000 because of state mandates, literally, we can not go beyond that for right now (we are slowly overtaking the rest of the "Big Universities", including University of Houston, which resides in a metro population of over 5 million people). In other words, Texas State is a destination University (San Marcos population - 54,000).

One of my best friends works for TxSt. He told me 40,000 is the magic number at which they will update entrance requirements.

I hope Texas State gets a bowl bid tomorrow. When it is brought up that no knows how TxSt will travel to a bowl it's answered that TxSt can't prove how they travel unless they are invited. UL never won the conf. but had a very good record and a bowl on the next block. You don't have the bowl and though 7-5 is good it's not "WOW". As far as stAte is concerned we had bowl eligible years but was never invited unless we won the conf. Went to Lafayette in 2005. Attendance was ok. Then won it again with a dominate team went to Mobile and took over the town. They found out what we could do. We didn't sneak in the first time in Mobile we knocked the door down. Now we are wanted. Like I said I hope you get a bowl or you may have to do like we did. Win the conference. Take over the town. Fill the eateries. Fill the hotel rooms. Make the town money and they will want you back...trust me.

I would think outside dollars mean more and more revenue will be generated simply because we will need places to stay, eat, drink, shop, and play because its a destination for Texas State fans not a local team in their backyard. Someone said it earlier Mobile businesses wanted someone to come into town not the local team.

Not so fast...everyone I know who's going to the Camellia Bowl from Mobile is planning to stay the night in Montgomery mainly due to the 8:15 PM (CT) kickoff. Combined with the lengthy halftimes bowl games tend to have, Mobilians might not even get out of the stadium parking lot until after midnight.

And as for ticket sales, USA had already sold out their 5,000 ticket allotment in less than 48 hours and is petitioning the bowl for 10,000 more. This, according to a coach I bumped into last night.

(OT) - I'm rooting for TXST to go bowling!

If South AL doesn't sell out that bowl I will be disappointed. It is a small stadium that is an easy commute. I hope Texas St gets in too!

USA tickets haven't even gone on sale to the general public yet, only JAF members and season ticket holders.

That is how the Cajuns have done it the past two years. I doubt we bring as many this year though. Horrible time slot. I will be working so I won't even get to listen to it.

problem is it might be a bowl game a thousand miles away and thereby not attract many fans.
