...and an Announcement
Some of you may have heard a bit about this, so I am making it official. This will be my 25th, and final, season of broadcasting Tribe Basketball.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my quarter of a century working with Jay Colley and the past decade with former Tribe Head Coach Charlie Woollum, but the growth of the CAA from a Virginia-centric league to a wide spread East Coast presence, with it's vastly increased travel requirements and the increased attention required by my business interests has made it nearly impossible for me to supply as much time as I should towards this endeavour. It wasn't really fair to the broadcast crew or the school.
I will be doing a part time schedule this season and my role as host of the Countdown to Tipoff Pre-Game and the At The Half halftime show will be ably manned by Wesley Kempton, of Tribe TV and Women's Basketball broadcasts.
I will miss the interaction with my fellow broadcasters, the players and fans, but I will still be around and hope to see many of you at the games throughout the season.
I have been fortunate enough to be involved in broadcasting numerous exciting Tribe games, interacted with some excellent coaches and had a chance to meet some truly great young men along the way. One thing I can say, without hesitation, is that, while not every W&M team has been a winner in the box score, the players to come through our program have been of the highest character and will be assets to their communities wherever they go.
Also, a thank you to the folks on this board who, for the past 4 years, have given me a place to come talk Tribe Sports. I certainly plan to keep THAT part going, although the Previews will probably be left to the guys at the W&M Sports Blog. They do a good job and the only way you get better at something you love to do, is to just do it, work on correcting your mistakes, and strive to get better every day.
Lastly, I'm hoping for that final magical season, that gets us TO the NCAA's and OFF that dang Final Five list!
Go Tribe!!
