I've only seen Ely in action for not even 7 full quarters, so I can't say how much better he might have been than Woodside. Logan got a lot of experience this season and will no doubt improve a lot more by next season.
No doubt it will be an interesting competition. I just hope the coaches start the best guy. And, in the mean-time hire a QB coach.
My thoughts exactly. How can you guys be so sure Ely is better than Woodside come next year? His play in the Mizzou game reminded me much of how Woodside has been playing this season. Give Woodside a few more games this year plus the offseason, and I bet we find ourselves a
much improved junior QB.
Nobody has pressured Rocket QB's this season like Missouri's Markus Golden. In a a down year for MAC QB's, Ely would have probably been the Conference's best.

Thank you...Ely barely had time to get to his drop in that game. We're also talking Mizzou...competing for an SEC East title...He didn't struggle at all vs NHU, who is on par with much of the MAC.

UNH would be contender in the MAC East.

Hmm, well Toledo destroyed UNH, but barely beat Kent St and Umass....I don't see the logic in that one.

The logic is that they are saying Ely lead the Rockets in that game and the others lead the Rockets in those other two games. The assumption is that the Rockets may have had similar results in the UMass and Kent State games had Ely been the QB. I don't know enough to say either way....just explaining their logic.

Oops, just re-read what I typed. Make that "led." I sound like someone who talks about loosing games.

RE: Who Is Toledo's Starting Quarterback Next Year?
Ely was the players choice at the beginning of the season. Obviously, the coaches also. Everyone had confidence that he would be an elite MAC qb this year. Oh well. Woodside has improved. The rockets will have solid choices for next year. Just hope we will not need four QB's ever again.
