Kill had been a head coach for years, with success at all levels. Left after after 3 years

DD had been a coordinator(or co-coord) for 5 years at a BIG school prior to coming to NIU. Left after 2 successful years.

Carey was a coordinator for a D3 school for two seasons and NIU OC for 12 games before becoming head coach.

I am not so sure any schools would be willing to take a chance on Carey without at least 2 more successful years.

He has a really good QB this year and they still can't win. I was all for that excuse last year, but it doesn't fly so much this year. They're a really young team and I still think he'll get it turned around, but yeah he doesn't have a lot of supporters down here.

i think the only coaching change next year will be a new OC. I think there might be a little disagreement between coach carey and cole.

Carey is not ready for move up. He will be in the interview pool, but be very surprised he would get the call. iL job will be opening up in a couple of weeks and they are capable of ...... BTW IF the job open up last years TE coach is now the OC @ North Dakota St. If you want an "in house" guy who has ties to the program. The IL State coach would give his rt nut for this job. They are making a run in FCS .

Carey is here for 2 more years at least.

Teams lose it f*cking does. It's just fact. He personally did not cost NIU millions of dollars, the players on the field did. He had a ****** gameplan but they were outplayed.

I hardly think anybody besides NIU fans and Utah state fans are saying ya we watched a ****** bowl game the day after Christmas so that coach sucks. That's idiotic.

He mentored the offensive line that has over 140 something starts. None of them played before he was o line coach. He won coach of the year for the conference. He has 2 big ten wins, that's 3 less than IUs coach has in 5 seasons.

Also the OB argument pisses me off. He outcoached Fisher. FSU was better plain and simple.

Oh, by the way name a mid major coach with a better resume tha him right now. Please and give me their record vs power 5 teams, their conference record and if their team is 8-2 with a handful of their better players hurt.

Does it make me a bad poster because you don't care for my opinions? Wouldn't these boards be dull if everyone simply agreed with one another? Perhaps my views are contrarian, but I stand behind my belief I would like to see the program strive for greater heights than simply being good in the MAC.

By the way, I thought Doeren was a great coach. That was a devastating loss when he left.

Most of your opinons are illogical, so yes it does make you a bad poster.

And an argument could easily be made that many of the issues NIU has expierenced this year were Doeren created.

As far as this goes, everyone here wants NIU to end up being more than a good MAC team. That doesn't mean losing the Orange Bowl against one of the best college football teams in the past 10 years is a failure. I'll focus on winning 50+ games in the last 5 years instead of losing a September OOC game.

Seriously, NIU was within a TD heading to the fourth quarter against the best college football teams since Miami and somehow that's seen as a knock on Carey? With no RBs and a QB who couldn't hit the ocean if he fell out of a boat. Wut? Not to mention NIU being in that game was almost single handedly from Carey coaching decisions (fake punt, onsides kick).
