The first time I saw snow I was 19 and in Navy bootcamp. I thought I was gonna freeze to death... had never been that cold before in my life. every little bump and bruise felt like I was getting hit with a friggen hammer.

I can remember slipping and falling just walking... was in awe of how rock solid the ground felt. had bruises on my behind all winter.

I grew up in snow and ice. I took my driver's test the day after a blizzard. I only ever fell when ice skating. I guess you learn, early, how to walk in it (and I walked to school from K-8) without killing yourself. Doesn't mean I ever want to go back home in winter or sit through a snow game (did that in HS). Two TXST games in the cold and wet is enough for me. I don't do cold well any more.

One other big advantage for App is the altitude. Our Volleyball team was the first stAte team to ever play in Boone, and that was all they could talk about, how hard it was playing at an altitude with little to no time to adjust.

We won though, so it didn't matter.

I've been to games at Samford ALA, LSU, Clemson, and even ECU where the heat was really oppressive. Better have some depth on your team, especially on the lines for those contests. As a fan, can't drink to much shine or whiskey in that heat either.03-puke

I would rather play in the snow and cold.............

I can never take off enough clothes to get comfortable, but I can put on the right clothes to stay warm. IMO, excessive heat and stifling humidity is much harder to deal with than the cold.

I make fun of my friends from Charlotte who complain of their ears popping on the drive up to Boone. I always give them the Bert stare.

The altitude of Boone might be difficult for a team coming from a very lowland area, but it's not crippling like a place such as Colorado.

I think the weather is a major factor only if it affects the field surface. In that case, the team that's used to it and knows which cleat to use definitely has an advantage. According to one of our former players, they are usually adjusted to the temp and precipitation after the first series. However, it's a different game if the footing get messy.

Dont forget, according to some fans prior to App's inclusion into the SBC, the only way to get to the stadium was to fly in to somewhere far away like Atlanta and ride on the back of a donkey up Mt Everest to get to the stadium. That has a lot to do with why the other team.

Now, if they had a local airport and a 4 lane highway to get to the stadium, there would be NO excuse.... right?

Troy played at USA in 2012 in a monsoon. There were 9 turnovers in that game. It was ugly.
