Don't have a link but I've heard that the voters in Mt Pleasant have decriminalized marijuana for personal use.

Remember boys if you need to relax after a hard practice or another mounting loss, if you light up in the shower the steam will hide the smoke.

seems like this would lead to more arrests. It's still illegal in the state, so all it would take would be for one of their players to take their "personal use" marijuana on the highway where a state cop could pull them over and bust them.

AA decriminalized it years ago. Illegal but like a 10 buck fine or something nominal.

Can't see how it would be any worse than it is now. Stupid people get busted all the time for being careless.

Interesting news, but, ehh -- not going to affect much besides dorm & house party options To get them for that if they're a bad seed (no pun intended).

IMO, that's an OK law. Kind of like Everclear (super strong liquor). You can't sell or distribute it here in MI (gotta go to Indiana for that). But if you HAVE it? The cops shouldn't be breaking down your door.

Actually, I think that would probably be more fitting for certain areas, notably with a college campus. Unless for even any flaky medical reasons, if you have it, you get a mild parking ticket like thing to "not condone" it, as folks "shouldn't be" using it as it's addictive.

Or IMO, a better law: If Unemployed, you'd get a ticket for using/carrying, since it leads the most people to unproductivity.

Years ago my teenage son got busted outside a music venue several guys sharing a joint. He got arrested and we picked him up at Kent County jail.

We ended up at some crowded court room, reminded me of that old Night Court series. The judge called his name, first thing he asked was, anybody here with you? I hollered out "Me", judge goes who are you, I said, the Daddy. Judge goes, get him out of here and tell him don't be so stupid to smoke pot on the street next to a squad car. We left, never heard anything else about it.

Lucky him. Unlucky everyone else who wasn't so fortunate.

Was the right call. With more thinking on the subject, for being caught smoking and/or caught high *MY IDEAL SITUATION WOULD BE*:
a) A warning, but noted on the record for a year. If caught for a 2nd time within 1 year, go to (b)
b) A $25 fine. The 3rd time within a year, $50. The 4th time within a year of the 1st, $100 -- treated like parking tickets, no misdemeanor.
c) If on the 5th time caught within a year span, you get some new crime "Frequent use of marijuana" misdemeanor ($500 fine/Community Service/etc)

That would mean you'd need to get CAUGHT smoking or high *5* times within a year time-frame to get a misdemeanor. Like, an idiot pot-head. Your first one's free. Essentially, getting away with it, but if you're a bumbling pot-head, you'll get in actual trouble. My top-of-head thoughts. :)

Make it legal. Also make hemp legal. Hemp being illegal is the really stupid thing. George Washington grew hemp. Hurst papers used pot to get hemp banned because they didn't want hemp paper used for newspapers. Anyway. For the record I dont smoke pot.... yet. Someday.
