Quote:The encounter with a fisherman that a choked-up Charlie Baker recounted during the signature moment of Tuesday’s debate in fact occurred in 2009, during Baker’s last run for governor, the campaign acknowledged Wednesday.
In retelling the story in the televised debate, Baker did not mention that the encounter that left him struggling with emotion had occurred so long ago.
On Wednesday, Baker told reporters “every time I tell it, it’s like it happened five minutes ago, as far as I’m concerned.”

How does this make him a scum bag?
C'mon Owl...you actually thought he was genuine telling that story? It was a total hollywood performance.
Correct me if I am misunderstanding, but it would appear to be something that actually happened, just the timing is off. That's not scumbag material in my mind. Or am I missing something?

No, if that's actually the case. But to me, it was the performance. The fake crying, the fake emotion in his voice, etc.
But really...he hasn't cried in five years?
And regardless of when this supposedly happened...there is still no name on the story. No one has yet to prove that this family existed. The fishing community knows nobody in this situation and no one with that high school remembers football players in that situation.

Isn't that exactly the arguments the lunatic fringe right was making about Obama at Law school?

Well, I don't know specific item from law school you're referring to, but the ones I saw were always just urban legends, ignoring all sorts of facts.
Kind of like all the BS claiming that Obama sealed all these records, when in fact, he doesn't have to and hasn't as it's all private information that they aren't allowed to release anyway.

Seriously? All the comments that they couldn't find anyone who remembers him being there... Here's the SNOPES article and it mentions FOX. Given how often you guys quote FOX, I'm really surprised that you don't remember it.
'The class of 1983' doesn't remember him there, just like 'the fishing community' above knows nobody in that situation and no one in 'high school' remembers a player in that situation. Really? Somebody interviewed the ENTIRE fishing community and the high school? Maybe the person merely flew below the radar at the time, you know... like Obama did.
The obvious point being that just because no one 'in high school' or 'the fishing community' knows the person he's talking about, doesn't mean that person didn't exist.
Not claiming he does... I honestly have no idea... I just find it interesting that the quotes you use to argue this guy is a scumbag are almost word for word the quotes used against Obama.
Just like those who made the comments about Obama, one's belief about the veracity of a claim doesn't make something a fact.

1. Again, I'm not arguing the guy to be a 'scumbag'. I'm saying he's a horrible actor.
2. I said that I didn't know which law school story you were referring to because you didn't cite it.
But thanks for posting the snopes article that mentions 6 separate items proving that he was at Columbia in 1983. 31 years ago.
The fisherman incident happened 6 years ago. And perhaps you've heard of recruiting services like scout, etc. They were in existence in 2009. It stands to reason that two brothers from the same school in one high school in Massachusetts would be listed as having received D1 offers. And so far, no one has been able to find them. You'd think that be a pretty high priority for the Baker campaign on the eve of an election.
Again, my issue is with the fact that he hasn't cried in 5 years and his horrible acting, not as much with whether the story is actually true.

1) Really? Only 3 words of your original post questioned his acting... the other 30 or so questioned his facts. In your second response, about half of it questions his act and the other half his facts.
Yes, you're saying he's a bad actor, but it doesn't appear to be your major contention.
to #2, the words you used and the words they used are functionally identical... If I got my facts wrong, it was because I didn't care. It really doesn't matter. My issues with Obama don't rest on pedantic things like whether or not he's a good actor or whether he is memorable or whether he can tell a story.
No...it's my major concern. The veracity isn't because I know it can't be proved.
Watch the video again...if you seriously think he's genuine in his emotions, I've got some prime building swampland for sale. Personally, I couldn't keep a straight face watching him.
