What is ironic is the schools they considered are nothing like the list of candidates that always pops up. But I'm not going to list them, b/c I don't want to argue about whether it happened or not.

Yes, Bob Stoops mentioned Tulane. Just like West Virginia's AD mentioned ECU, Texas Tech's AD mentioned New Mexico, Bowlsby mentioned Air Force etc. Some of these realignment rumors have been fueled by crazy quotes made by 1 high ranking person that makes fans of said schools go nuts. The craziest of all, PAC 12 Commissioner Scott: Yes, we considered Boise St.
Tulane is the only one of that group in the final 6 last January, and they didn't make the final four.

I hear many complain. Before this season, many were unhappy with the loss of their old rivals. They miss the games with Pitt and others. They do not like the ffact that it takes an airplane to get to a game. The average fan could care less about the amount of money their athletic department makes.

RE: Chuck Landon (Herald Press) claims Aresco scrambling to get GOR done
Louisville fans were never happy with being in CUSA, because how spread out the conference was and how much of it was West and in the Central Time Zone. In the ACC Louisville is about half way between the two farthest schools. Also every school is in the Eastern Time Zone.
Louisville's fans would have accept the Big 12, because it was a P5 Conference and at that time there were no openings in the ACC. We are now very thankful to West Virginia for how they got ahead of us for Big 12 membership. Most West Virginia fans can accept being in the Big 12 is better than being in the American. But we all know they would have rather ben in the ACC or SEC!

As for the GOR. The reality is that any school in the AAC would still leave for the P5 even with a GOR so I don't see what's the big deal in signing it. Lets say the GOR signing gives the conference 6 million per team. If an invite came from a P% paying 25 million per year. Those schools leaving would be wiling to pay the AAC 8-12 million per year for the length of the GOR and still leave.
They could but the new conf wouldn't be able to air their games making the worthless. That's the point of a gor

West Virginia is not the richest state and I would think that also. When a team can't drive to a single conference game, then I would be pissed too.
I guess being P5 helps and the school is making money.

My point was that you can BUY your way out of a GOR in court

And who were your top6?
Fwiw I highly doubt Tulane got serious consideration due to it's size private status and overall fball program

Its a no brainer. I would much rather play the regional schools, Pitt, Louisville, Virginia tech than the Texas and Oklahoma schools.

A 10 year GOR would equal about two years of P5 TV revenue so its not going to stop anything from happening.

Correct which is why I said all that it would do would be to protect a certain TV income for those remaining.
