Some are saying with this recruit, UCF has a top 25 recruiting class for this coming year with Tanksley Efianayi, Chad Brown, and Chance McSpadden already committed.
How does a 3-star recruit bump your recruiting class into the top 25? In fact, they're all 3-star recruits + a JUCO.
What am i missing here?

An awful lot of good basketball schools offered that "project that won't pan out".
They only offered him cause of his height. Any skills he has is just the frosting on the cake.

eh, I wouldnt say that. Height is highly over rated. Give me a highly skilled kid thats 6'10" and he can outplay an average 7'6" (not saying this kid is average)
Skill has way more to do with being a good center then height. If he didnt have some talent, then there is no way he is offered. Ive seen WAY too many really tall kids who arent rated very high and its cause they move their feet like Lurch.
I finally watched some video and hes not bad at all but like I said before I doubt he see big time his first season. He moves like a kid who hasnt been playing long and the only thing that can fix that is time. He is athletic, hands are pretty soft and he can develop. Hes a two year guy before meaningful contribution will be there.

First impression is that he will likely never see more than 10 minutes per game at any point in his career, and that might be a stretch. Like most players over 7' 2", his footwork is absolutely awful and he runs and moves like a giraffe. He is far too slow for the high D-1 game. He also has another bad habit that is common in guys his size, and that is bringing the ball to his waist every single time he touches it on offense. Watched several videos, and not once did he receive a pass or get a rebound and not immediately drop his hands to his waist. That is a habit that can be very difficult to break a kid out of. Great pickup when it comes to the PR side of things. Not such a great addition on the court.
It's fun reading some of these back.
Tacko used to be a soccer player (like Hakeem) and his footwork has improved a great deal.

Was it really worth bringing this post back up? It's not like this is Michael Jordan being taken 3rd overall. He's a 3 star recruit that is playing well. This happens all the time.

More you're implying that in salty to try and start an argument. That was my first post in this thread, I have nothing to be salty about.

'Athletes' that big are an extremely rare phenomenon.
Tacko completely changes the psychology of a game. It's fun to watch.
If the ranking system were in place for sophomores, is there any doubt he is a 5 star right now?
He's far from a finished product. I suspect that's why people are still talking. How much better can a man with Tacko's athleticism and measurables get?
I think Dawkins is obsessed with finding that out. He did a hell of a job with the year he's had with him.
Right now I'm just hoping for at least another year.
Tacko can be UCF's David Robinson... who was probably not even considered the equivalent of a 3 star back then.

Not many 3 star athletes get mocked as bad either. Show me another 3 star mocked this bad after a verbal commitment. I like it because it shows how little fans know in general.

So true. It drove me nuts playing UCF this year. Our game plan should have been to play fast and try to run Tacko off the floor with our guard play. Instead, we played our usual slow half court offense and our 6'8" and 6'9" bigs pissed down their legs every time they touched the ball inside the 3-point line.

RE: UCF Lands 7-6 Center Tacko Fall
Tacko made the NY paper.
Fall is perfectly content dealing with the public scrutiny, because his height also affords him the opportunity to pursue his dream of playing in the NBA.
He still has a far road ahead, though. He's only in his fourth season playing competitive basketball. He didn't play the sport in his native country, where soccer is preferred, and knows he must hone his skills to earn a chance at the next level.
But his coach, Johnny Dawkins - a nine-year NBA veteran who played alongside 7-6 Shawn Bradley and 7-7 Manute Bol - believes Fall has the physical tools to achieve success in the world's preeminent basketball league.
"He's built where he can be one of the best-conditioned athletes out there, as well as one of the tallest athletes out there," Dawkins said. "He's probably the most well proportioned of any of the guys I've seen at that size. I played with Shawn Bradley and I played with Minute Bol. And of course I played against Shaq. And Shaq of course isn't 7-6, but he's seven-feet plus and he's massive. And the other two were slender. (Fall is) in between, and that's unique, because most of time you can see them on either end of the spectrum, and so to see him with that kind of size, those type of proportions, I think really is an asset for his future."

Even if it takes him a year or two to get acclimated to the game at this level, I don't understand some of the negative comments.
In this fan's opinion, he is an outstanding signee by UCF. The proof will be in the pudding, but the upside to signing this guy so outweighs any possible downside; there's a reason why he was "offered" by so many quality programs.
I see this as an absolute coup for the Knights.
Just so there's no question regarding what "smart" folks thought about Taco when he signed, see above post. :))
Just kidding, but I did like this signing while others were doing some laughing. No one is laughing now.
Congrats on the good signee and good year, Knights and Knight fans.
(D A KnightLight, I'm well aware that fans don't play in games)

Hopefully he comes back like Lawson did last year. His potential is limitless but he's so young to the game and college would build him up in a way that going to the NBA prematurely wouldn't. It's like a great boxer. You need to nurture that talent and not take on too much too fast.
I'm rooting for Tack regardless. It's cool to see him get a taste of his dream.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's one of the top picks. His height is awesome and he can actually push guys around and get boards unlike Bol and Bradley. He's strong. He's got raw talent. NBA teams drool over this...
