It would likely be a road game. That Marshall v. UAB game on November 22nd in front of 30 people in an 80,000 seat Legion Field has trouble written all over it for Marshall. UAB always seems to pull some crap against a top CUSA team in that stadium at that time of the year. UAB beat a ranked Fedora coached USM team a few years ago in Legion Field. That is about the only test that Marshall would get in CUSA until Marshall plays Skip Holtz in the CUSA championship game.

you are missing the point..

you beat a team that is decent and you being thier only bad loss

you beat a bad team that has lost to other bad teams..

it looks like you have 1 decent win somewhat signature win

but if that bad teams (That has already been beat by other bad teams) beats your decent team..
it doesnt matter that you beat both, but that the decent team has lost all crediitliy

ill put it in simpler terms, pretend youre racing horses, you beat what looks like a stallion (which make you look great)..and then you beat a 3 legged horse in a race, no one cares, you beat a 3 legged horse...but if that 3 legged horse beats the supposed decent stallion..it doenst matter if you beat both, neither looks good...you needed akron to carry your SOS, thats gone now

Skip should just stay in CUSA, he seems to thrive at that level...

Lol. Point that analysis on the leading team in the AAC. It seems like a very similar story.

I'm not sure how you've come to that conclusion. Because ECU is ranked higher in the subjective human polls? Marshall is ahead of ECU in most of the computer rankings. I would wager that the playoff committee would sooner use the computer data than the opinions of coaches (who don't watch the games) and the media.

There's no way the committee selects a one-loss ECU team over an undefeated Marshall team that is destroying its opponents. Especially as the season goes along and those "quality wins" ECU had don't seem to have as much value. And then there's the loss . . . to what will probably be a .500 or slightly better South Carolina team.

I don't want to see Marshall in an Access Bowl after UCF upsets ECU.

Totally unrelated to this thread, but Colorado State should be receiving votes as of tomorrow and in a couple of weeks they need to be ranked. Colorado State is now 6-1, with their only loss coming to Boise State. Colorado State has victories over Boston College and Colorado and with that resume then they should be ranked considering that a certain team is ranked even though they have played a crap schedule with no games played against P5 opponents.

I agree. My wife is a CSU grad so we're enjoying both of our seasons this year.

UNC Beat Ga Tech Tonight..Marshall is a good team but that schedule will hurt them in the end. No P5's...and CUSA has some bad team..Marshall could be playing La Tech in the Champ game who lost to an FCS team

The thing that is really crazy is that Skip is 2-0 in CUSA Championship games and he beat two teams (Tulsa and Houston) with offenses that are just as good as Marshall's is right now.

Houston's offense in 08/09 was much better than Marshalls
