He has three on his contract right now. After this year ... two. It will cost under $5 mil to punt him this year.

NC State is a train wreck and a win for GT.

The rest of what you said is correct.

We'll need 50 to win at NCSU, it might work though.

^ Yeah, and especially since North Carolina can win out and win the thing…

Yeah, crazy. UNC could end up at the top of the division if it wins out but VaTech could also win out and end up tied with UNC but wins the tie breaker since the hokies beat UNC. But possibilities are there for everybody half way through the season!!!

Is playing the winner of the coastal on the cg going to hurt the Atlantic winners playoff seeding?

FSU's best chance of playing another ranked team probably rest on Duke not losing again this year.

That will difficult. Duke is 26th now, but the odds of them running the table are not good and even if the climb into the polls, a loss to VT, or UNC will be heavily penalized.

I can see a 10-2 Duke team ranked effectively at 27th-30th in the polls given the skew toward the SEC.

Atlantic isn't much better. FSU in the middle, the rest of the teams in a circle just like the Coastal... 03-banghead

Clemson would win the coastal if they were in that division.

I agree and they'd be a strong favorite to win it. I personally would see Louisville as a favorite this year in the Coastal as well, although certainly no sure thing. UofL's offense has been weak but the Cards are rated above anyone in the Coastal in objective rankings at this point.

As an exercise, here is the Sagarin order for the league at the moment, with Atlantic teams in bold. It's about what you'd expect, top heavy but it's not real accurate to say the "other 6" in the Atlantic are in a circle like the Coastal.

1. FSU
2. Clemson
3. UofL

4. Virginia Tech
5. Duke
6. Miami
7. Georgia Tech
8. Pittsburgh
9. Virginia
10. Boston College
11. North Carolina
12. Syracuse
13. NC State
14. Wake Forest

It's even more tightly bunched than this would show. Sagarin actually has GT through BC as four teams in a row, even among the national 128 team ratings. Essentially a crap shoot.

Sagarin actually looks about right this year. I think FSU, Clemson, and Louisville are the three best teams. VT has the best win although Duke may be more consistent. The rest is just a jumbled mess until you get to NC State and WF who I think are still pretty clearly the bottom two this year.

UVA is better than L'ville.
