Never heard of GS until that season (I started following in 2004.) but we soon heard all we wanted to (and more) from other FCS teams and GS fans. They were a TO team and we regularly played Nicholls but that was nothing compared to GS, their program and their perfection of that offense. We trailed almost the whole of the game. Their QB ran the TO like nobody's business. At halftime, the team said "we are not going to lose this". That didn't stop GS. With 19 minutes left in the game GS was up (after a TD) 35-16. TXST scored to end the 3rd qtr but still down 35-23. In the next 15 minutes, the TXST D held GS scoreless while Barrick Nealy put on a clinic, scoring 27 (one missed PAT) unanswered points and led the cats to a 50-35 win.
I'm sure the GS fans didn't appreciate us storming the field but that "dream season" had been a long time coming in San Marcos.

The rest are in no particular order because I can't decide.

Not to mention the weather was terrible. What a miserable day that was.

Um, no it wasn't.......

I feel bad for the people who left early. I didn't think we had much of a chance either but was determined to support the team through that awful year. Glad I did.

So there were three of us left at the end of the game. I think that was the most exciting game I have been to so far.

Its probably been said by multiple GS fans, but this is my favorite Southern memory. Taking down #1 App State (2010) at home to start our trip to the playoffs after losing I think its was 4 straight. The resilience of this team was incredible that year. Also rushing the field never hurts

Never rushed the field. Bummer

I'll second that but add 2007 beating #1 App State. The year of the Michigan win and them coming off a national title. This is the game that really cemented my hate for App. We go into the most hostile environment I've ever seen a football game in, take a first half lead, get stuff thrown at us and hold them off for the win. Jayson Foster was a beast this game.

The 2010 "#1 Goes Down" game was my favorite Paulson experience. We're having a mediocre year under a new coach and bringing back the option. The game is close the whole time and goes into overtime. We score and it's Appy's turn. QB scrambles around the edge, gets hit and fumbles. A GSU player dives on the ball to end the game. Students were hopping the wall before the play was over and the field was swarmed in seconds. I managed I hobble my way down to rush the field (not easy because I had just had ACL surgery a few months before.). After that mediocre start we won 10 (I think) games in a row and made it to the semifinals before getting knocked off by Delaware.

I think you are mistaking this game with the home New Hampshire game in 2004 in the first round of the playoffs. That game was miserable.

(I remember Browning got hurt for them the week before) Int was a Thursday Night game, and we had 100 percent coverage in the state that night. Little Rock television and radio stations came up live to broadcast from the stadium, our administration personally invited a couple major Little Rock businesses that are notorious Razorback supporters and put them in the AD suite. We pretty much wanted to show off that Arkansas lost to a team we were going to beat. ULM was treated extraordinarily well for a visiting team, and then we beat them by 3 touchdowns. Somewhere around the end of the 3rd quarter, a giagantic "How Long Will the Hogs Run" (Our old 70's and 80's mantra) was displayed by fans in the end zone. After the game, several of our players took the banner and paraded it around the field before Rhett Lashlee publicly gave them a tongue lashing about acting like you belong.

Then there was the MTSU game where our largest crowd ever (Until Missouri next year at least) showed up. We had 6 posessions in the first 3 quarters, faced 0 fourth downs, had 0 turnovers, 0 penalties, and scored 6 touchdowns. The Literal perfect game. Fans were invited on the field to celebrate with players after the game, and we got that memorable moment when Karl Benson was introduced to present the trophy, and he was booed so loudly and heartily that the fans had to literally be calmed down before the presentation could be made. Benson hasn't publicly appeared in front of AState fans since.

It always brings a smile to my face to think about that MTSU win in 2012. 31k at home, last game of the season when every other year the last game would be luck to draw 12k. That was when I knew things were truly different at ASU. We totally kicked their @$$. Could have beaten them by 60 if we wanted.

And to hear later that QB, Ryan Aplin told the MTSU players at the coin-toss, "It's over", after we chose to receive the ball. That is awesome.

That 2012 MTSU game is the most perfect played football game I'ver ever seen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pgb3ntYS...8&index=27
And to think that MTSU was playing for a share of the title makes it even better.

One of the most flawlessly executed games I've seen. The Red Wolves were rolling.

Yeah, you're both right. I was at both, and got them crossed. We gave a lead away in both, to get knocked out first round. I try to forget.

I was soaked, and the wind made it 10X worse. At the end of the game it seemed like there were only a few hundred people left.

An awesome event indeed... and if the goat humpers were really honest with themselves they would point to that date as the time their downward spiral, which has yet to reach its nadir, started as well as the time GS's rise, which has yet to reach its apex, also started.

RE: What's your teams most...
Tracy Ham is in the College Football HOF for his absolutely superhuman playoff exploits, the most famous being the 1985 1-AA championship game. THAT game is the greatest GS game ever because it created a legend and an expectation that lives on today. Close behind that one is the 1989 1-AA championship game because it culminated the first ever 15-0-0 season in division one history and cemented the legacy of Erk Russell.

After those two there are so many great memories... Adrian Peterson's 333 yards rushing and 5 TD's against UMass (the revenge game) in the 1999 quarters; the 1990 1-AA championship game where the "Last of the Hard," the great 1990 senior class, closed out their incredible run by coming back from a 1-3 start to run off 11 wins in a row and claim the national title; the 2000 semi final win at Delaware followed by the NC win over Montana; Tracy Ham passing for 300+ yards and rushing for 180+ yards in the 1986 1-AA title game against Arkansas State (Larry Lacewell- "You can't tackle smoke"); the win over Furman in 2005; "cracking the rock" in 2007; spoiling Furman's homecoming in 2002; ruining Troy's season in 1995; the 1999 1-AA championship game (the second quarter onslaught which featured "The Run); the 2010 defeat of #1 App (mentioned above); the Florida win last year.
