The Tea Party is not concerned with social issues. It only desires small, limited, and responsible government. It fights against the expansion of the welfare state. It understands that power is a zero-sum game between the people and government, and the pendulum has swung toward government for far too long.

Is that evil?

...like cardfan1 stated, "no"

that Twain guy....he was a pretty smart fellow.....

edit: regardless of the 'who', that is the best statement I have read on this board to date....

Agreed in part John...

NCLB -> RttT (which was actually pretty short lived) -> Common Core

But a thornbush by any other name... is still a thornbush.

NCLB & RTTT were programs that dealt more with funding than anything else. CC is more about the actual curriculum than anything else. CC's role in regards to RTTT is that it acts as the testing method.

NCLB & RTTT originated out of congress. CC did not originate out of congress but the national governors association that states volunteered to adopt.

RTTT/NCLB compared to CC serve completely different functions. RTTT & CC are in fact linked, but by no means is RTTT's success dependent on CC. you could easily replace CC with something else and it wouldn't even be a speed bump for RTTT

you guys just defined why I teach my daughter the 'tricks of the trade'.......

the education system of today?????????????????? it's all a bunch-o-honcho-dipshite-crapola.....

b/c why?????????????????

because yesterday is irrelevant in our economy for the common man......

I'm teaching my daughter how to make coin and defend herself.....fk the rest of this bs....things are changing so rapidly today....unless you are gifted in mind or wallet, any developed curriculum relative to overall individual life expectancy earning power has totally become meaningless in the era of the 'thumb' environment....

....and before anyone asks.....do you really think I care to share????????????? (the how)

Anyone who has claimed to be a TEA Party candidate and has campaigned on abortion and gay rights instead of balancing the budget and reducing the size of the federal government.

Owl, they may believe in abortion and gay rights issues, but if it's their primary stances, then they're not a "Tea party candidate". If they claim to be, I don't call that hijacking, I call that riding the coattails.

The problem is that your observation is wrong. I, speaking as an independent who voted for Obama twice, don't support this administration "unwaveringly". And It's interesting that you make this statement when you've hardly posted anything here in quite awhile....and certainly nothing recently.

And be careful not to mistake shooting down baseless and outlandish claims about Obama as unwavering support of him. There's a difference.

But that's the point I'm making. An original TEA Party member would have been hugely in favor of balancing the budget and cutting the size of the federal government, with no particular position on abortion or gay rights. Associating "Tea Party candidate" with opposition to gay rights and abortion is changing the definition vastly from the "TEA Party" to the "Tea Party." It is the person who opposes abortion and gay rights but doesn't call for balancing the budget and cutting spending who is truly riding--or attempting to ride--the coattails.

A person who opposes abortion and gay rights and also calls for balancing the budget and cutting spending is a true "TEA Party" member, as is a person who supports abortion and gay rights and also calls for balancing the budget and cutting spending.
