My parents took me to my first stAte game when I was 2.
I still have the picture around here somewhere. I was wearing an Indian headdress.
That would have been late in the 1967 season, or early during the 1968 season.
Whew. That makes me feel a little better old-timer.

Same deal for me, couple years behind you, but remember Chief Big Track circling the track at Kays.
First football memory is McNeese State in '74 with Joe Duren hitting that 63-yarder, and I think another to win the game. I think I remember a dog-pile of McNeese State Cowboys on the sideline, thinking they'd won.

Yep, he seared his name into my young memory that day.

I was there when Duren kicked those field goals.
I was in Ruston the following year, when we beat La. Tech to wrap up an undefeated season. I remember all of us stAte fans at the game throwing tangerines onto the field, to no avail.

2006.
I watched us play what our coach (at the time.....thanks Van Gorder) called a scrimmage.
We lost to Central Connecticut State. I have missed two home games (one playoff, one reg season) since then.

1993. Visited my brother who took me out to a bunch of parties, fell in love (I was 17) with a college girl and decided this was where God vacationed when he needed an upgrade from heaven.

At both. Started in 1971. My parents are grads and season ticket holders from 74 until this year. My mom's uncle was on the first baseball and football teams and on the committee that picked the school colors.

So, when I came along in 1964, it was automatic. My record pales in comparison to his.
I graduated in 88, and my new career kept me in Nashville a lot during the 90s. In the late 90s, my attendance picked back up. Now, my 16 year old daughter (17 on Thursday) makes almost every game with me. She even plans her activities around the football schedule. [proud grin]
Your 16 yr old schedules activities around football? Now THAT is awesome!!

My whole family went to Georgia Southern, so I've always been a fan. However, it didn't become an obsession until I became a student.

RE: When did you become...
Growing up in Jonesboro I was always a casual ASU fan but like many brainwashed Arkansans I rooted for the team that played on TV too....SAD. I remember listening on the radio as ASU finished an undefeated season in 1975. I really began to get interested in ASU at that point. However, I did not make the full conversion to solely an ASU fan till I went to ASU 82-86 and some of my frat brothers set me straight about being a dual fan. I enjoyed my time at ASU so much it was easy to make the conversion. I became a true fan by 83 or 84...and it was solidified by the teams of the mid-80s who went to the I-AA playoffs every year. 1986 was a great year until we played Ga. Southern! Figured you Ga. So. Guys would enjoy the last sentence.:)

RE: When did you become...
1983 I saw my first game at Memorial Stadium in Savannah against Savannah St and again in 1984 against Florida A & M. I watched the 1985 National Championship game on TV and was a guest recruit in 1986 against James Madison. It's another story why I never showed up in 1987 for Fall Camp, but I attended games regularly in 89 and 90 and moved to Statesboro in 1992 to finally enroll. It still took me till 1994 to become a student, but in the meanwhile I became like a young mascot at the round table of Snooky's sitting with Erk and the gang at 9am breakfast and 3pm coffee. Graduated in 1998 and will graduate again in 2015. Attended NC games in 89, 90, 98, 99, and 2000 and missed 1 home game since since 1999.
One of my most prized possessions is a recruiting letter from November 1986 signed by Erk (probably his secretary) updating me on Ga Southern beginning another playoff run to defend it's Championship crown against NC A&T.
".....and you can't beat Georgia Southern - and you ain't seen nothin' yet" - Erk

When did you become...
Diverse family lines here, root for syracuse because my dad was born there and some family grad. There, root for UCF because that's my dad and mums alma mater where they met, root for NCState because my brother graduated and is working on doctorate there, started rooting for App my freshman year, fell in love with boone and will always love boone. Coulda gone anywhere as a transfer, but app had my heart before the end of my first semester.

RE: When did you become...
2003 when I started at Texas St. I experienced a douche giving us a tour of the campus too but all was forgiven when I saw the river and all the girls. Growing up I never cared for any of the Texas programs. Mostly followed Florida St and Oregon (before they went all Nike). Couldn't afford to go out of state so picked TXST over A&M, Baylor, and TCU. Went to games my freshman year and never looked back. I remember trying to follow the team in 2002 and was shocked at how crappy the athletic site and team were. Not a lot of my friends at school were willing to go to games cause they all thought it was small time. Glad we went to FBS but it's amazing how many of them still have zero interest in the program.
But the 2005 playoff sealed my lifelong fandom and it's fun watching the program and facilities grow.

Never watched much college ball growing up so I didn't have a team before enrolling. Hail Southern and no place else.

RE: When did you become...
December of 2005 when I was heading to the MBB game NMSU @ UNM. I was listening to the UNM pregame show with my dad in the car ride to the game, had just finished my first semester at NMSU. The guys on the radio were absolute morons. They were talking how they thought NMSU was crappy (players, coaches, students and NMSU as an institution), considering NMSU had beaten UNM in LC a few weeks earlier. Its the UNM superiority complex that pushed me to be a NMSU fan (grew up in a UNM family, but they wanted me to get and education and enjoy my time, so I went to NMSU). I cannot stand people who believe they are superior to everyone else.
The basketball program at NMSU won me over, then I gradually took a liking to all sports at NMSU. I am very hopeful for the football team now more than ever. The strides being made at NMSU reaffirms why I root for NMSU.

I was the youngest out of three boys, I graduated from UL in 2008, my other brother 2003, my oldest brother in 2000, both of my parents graduated from UL in the 70's.
My dad would buy season tickets every year, I have always been a fan, but being a kid and watching Jake Delhomme, Brandon Stokley beat up on Texas A&M, fans bum rushing the field taking the goal post down and carrying out of the stadium. That was awesome!

Texas state was actually my back-up option as I changed my mind last minute and didn't want to move out of state. Spent 2008 (freshman year) deciding where to transfer as I wasn't yet sold on the school.
Sophomore year a friend and I decided to check out the Texas State / A&M baseball game at our fairly new stadium (was supposed to be a sell out, so what the hell). We won in extra innings and from then on, I was hooked on the Bobcats
Season ticket holder and bobcat club donor since graduating in 2012. Cannot wait to make our first bowl game and some day look back to think I was there when we moved to FBS
