When did you become...
...a fan of your school?

Some of you became fans as a student. Some others became fans by supporting a spouse or other family reasons. Others may have been born into it.

Me? I became a fan back in the 80's during the Div II days as a young preteen lad living in Philly, PA.

What's your reasoning??

Always have been. My dad graduated from GS, I graduated from GS, and my son graduated from GS.

10/25/1969 when my dad took me to my first A-State game versus Abilene Christian. Both parents were A-State grads. I basically grew up on campus.

Same here. Both parents, brother, sister-in-law, and one kid all A-State grads...plus several in the extended family.

RE: When did you become...
I quit following the Texas Longhorns in 2008, my freshman year. I had an interest in attending TXST a couple years before that, but didn't follow their athletics.

I was actually accepted to Texas as a transfer student my sophomore year but I fell in love with the TXST campus, TXST faculty and San Marvelous, so I ended up staying.

RE: When did you become...
My father graduated from ASU, but being the rebellious son I was, I hated ASU until my Senior Year of High School. Decided to take a campus tour, fell in love, and immediately became an ASU fan.

Have brought a sister and cousin to Arkansas State since I graduated a few years ago.

That's awesome. Strange as it sounds I was drawn to TROY from being an auburn fan.

December 6th, 2007. The day the board of trustees approved the creation of our football team. I was a student at the time.

RE: When did you become...
My mom went to SWT and always spoke fondly of the national championship years but she never followed Bobcat athletics as an alumnus. I was briefly a UT fan at some point in my childhood before becoming an A&M fan for whatever reason until my senior year when I took a tour of the campus and experienced the douchiest tour guide ever. I started at TXST in 2009, but I really didn't follow the football team until we went FBS. Now I've gotten my mom back into it as a casual fan and my dad has joined in too among others who I've brought to games.

October 1982 at Homecoming. It was my first time at a football game at Appalachian and I went with my girlfriend (who became my fiancée and wife.) You could say I married into the Appalachian family. Later, my fandom was reinforced with my daughter earning her degree in 2010.

When did you become...
1989. I was 11 years old. National championship game. Father ran out on the front porch half naked screaming out into the night when we won. I wondered "why is this so important?" I learned.

RE: When did you become...
My father was 'recognized' at the last home game, for his 69th consecutive Homecoming game. He was still on active duty in the Army (WWII) when he made his first. He's missed 6 home games since he graduated in 1950.
So, when I came along in 1964, it was automatic. My record pales in comparison to his.
I graduated in 88, and my new career kept me in Nashville a lot during the 90s. In the late 90s, my attendance picked back up. Now, my 16 year old daughter (17 on Thursday) makes almost every game with me. She even plans her activities around the football schedule. [proud grin]

I became a Casa de Autos fan when I heard the commercial for the 400th time.

My parents took me to my first stAte game when I was 2.

I still have the picture around here somewhere. I was wearing an Indian headdress.

That would have been late in the 1967 season, or early during the 1968 season.
