interesting scenario
Jerry Palm does projections for the bowls each week...
he's got FSU/Oklahoma/Alabama/Mich St still for the top 4 spots. arguable for sure- but let's leave that alone....
Orange Bowl he's got Clemson/Auburn.
Access Bowls he's got Ole Miss, Oregon, Arizona, Georgia, and UCLA... And ECU as the G5 team...
He's got Arizona going to the Fiesta Bowl. Reasonable.
He's got Georgia to the Peach bowl. reasonable
so you are left with Ole Miss, Oregon, UCLA, and ECU...
He's got the Cotton Bowl as Ole Miss vs Oregon
He's got ECU going to the Fiesta Bowl to play Arizona, with UCLA going to the Peach to play Georgia...
You can see his logic. Can't have UCLA playing in the Fiesta vs Arizona, and whether it's UCLA or Oregon in the Cotton- same difference.
(this would be the same if it's ECU or Marshall).

So how is the Big XII going to end up with just Oklahoma?

attrition. Oklahoma wins out so Baylor and Kansas St have a loss. Baylor beats TCU and Kansas St beats TCU.

Oregon or UCLA will have at least 2 losses so I don't see how both will get big bowl berths. I also don't see Arizona making it. This team is a hail mary away from getting beat by Cal.

I think Notre Dame talent wise is better than FSU. I think Brian Kelly can lead the Irish to a win in Tallahassee and to an undefeated season.
I think Baylor is the best team in the Big 12. I don't think TCU really has a chance to win this game but that is why they play it on the field. I still believe Baylor wins by 2 TDs.
I like Michigan St to sneak in but if Arizona goes undefeated I would put them ahead of the Spartans for a playoff spot.

given we won't have many 1 loss teams period- its easy to see a 10-2 team like Oregon or UCLA from getting in. Arizona still has Wash St and Colorado on the schedule- so from there it'd be 3-2 vs the others to get to 10-2. Not really unrealistic.

In the real world I would agree with you , but there's too much SEC bias for that to happen. A 10-2 SEC team will get selected ahead of a 10-2 Pac 12 team. In addition, a 10-2 Notre Dame team will get selected ahead of the Pac-12.

old system i'd agree with you. But it's the rankings. Also remember- he's got 4 SEC teams in there and 3 Pac 12 teams total. I could see 3 teams ranked 5-11 for the Pac 12.

Correct..it's the rankings chosen by a committee of 13 people who will most likely have the SEC bias built in.
I think the Pac 12 is a really good conference but they will cannibalize each other. I wouldn't be shocked if the champ had 3 losses.

but a team behind them in the division could easily have only 2 losses. It's not as unrealistic as it sounds. Also remember SEC has already 4 teams in the scenario. 5th team is really pushing it.

True. I still don't see 3 Pac-12 teams. Replace one of them with Baylor/TCU.
I'd be interested to see where a team like Va Tech ends up. Say they win out and finish 10-2 but lose the tiebreaker to GT for the division. Would they get consideration.

Depending on what happens with Baylor/TCU- I see both picking up some losses...
If VT is 10-2, they likely would finish ahead of Clemson and in the Orange Bowl. Do not see 3 ACC teams getting in at all.

That means you must see Clemson losing again. I don't. I think they roll everyone else including South Carolina at the end of the year. Clemson doesn't have any bad losses. They lost on the road to essentially two top 10 teams.

Pretty good. I still think the Big 12 is damn near impossible to predict at this point. The SEC is pretty close to the same. The PAC is also in serious doubt. I think Arizona showed us just how vulnerable Oregon was and is more so than I think Arizona showed us that they are going to go undefeated in the PAC.
