RE: John U Bacon on teacher bashing.
Interesting that a Fordham Institute in 2004, found that teachers send their own kids to private schools at a greater rate than the general public. (Anecdotally, my daughter, who teaches in Cleveland, will be sending her son to a private Jesuit school.)

The study found the percentage of teachers who send their kids to private schools, as: Washington (28 percent), Baltimore (35 percent) and 16 other major cities, the figure is more than 1 in 4.

In Philadelphia, 44 percent of the teachers put their children in private schools; in Cincinnati, 41 percent; Chicago, 39 percent; Rochester, N.Y., 38 percent. The same trends showed up in the San Francisco-Oakland area, where 34 percent of public school teachers chose private schools for their children; 33 percent in New York City and New Jersey suburbs; and 29 percent in Milwaukee and New Orleans.

Torch,

You yourself stated that you have posted articles over the years showing bad apples. This is your indictment on a group. I'm stating you can literally do that for any profession.................. DAILY...............

You are not an honest broker.

Separation of School and State would make it much easier to identify which is which.

I don't necessarily disagree - that does however, open a whole new can of worms such as funding, etc. Some private entities do a very good job, others don't. Amazingly, the most successful privates are the one's in which the majority of the students actually pay to attend. Imagine that..................
