Yes, it's a huge party night in Vegas. It was all over the radio out there.
Also, I think Beebe is already married. His wife/girlfriend/fiancee is a dime.

RE: Vegas Game Thoughts
Not saying they "cheated"...but did anyone else find it odd/annoying/interesting how in the 2nd half when we were running a quick O and had a good play that one of the UNLV guys on D went down in an injury...repeatedly?
There was one point on the stream that I saw after the play had ended that a UNLV player went to the ground...then the officials called a TV timeout (not injury related) and the UNLV player then popped up like nothing was wrong.

It was 100 degrees and NIU ran 97 plays. Hard for me to accuse anyone of faking it under those circumstances.

In the Tribune Fred Mitchell (?) mentioned that UNLV wanted the game on Friday night but NIU wouldn't have it, so UNLV retaliated by putting the game at 4. Don't know how true that it.

Yep...the lobby of the MGM (even on Friday) was insane, all decked out in fight signs/gear.
I walked right by Evander Holyfield who was taking pics with folks in the lobby.

I saw Prince Fielder at the club on Saturday night, that fat bastard. Frank Thomas was on my friends flight back to Chicago yesterday.

I get it for the people attending the fight but just don't get it for the locals (non-tourists) who are the UNLV ticket base.

You don't think bars don't do better in Chicago when the Bears are playing on Sunday than on a Sunday in March? Why do you think every city wants the Super Bowl? I think you're underestimating how much Mayweather fights bring in. He may be the last big draw boxer there is.

The Bears are a local team...so it makes sense for the locals to support it. The Super Bowl is the biggest sporting event in the USA though I think of that as more of a home watching event because of the commercials...unless your team is in it.
Unless the boxers are from LV or even Nevada I don't see the attraction if you are a local of LV go to UNLV games and you don't have a ticket to the fight...especially with how expensive everything is in the tourist areas.
If that is the case then UNLV should have had a post game fight party.

Vegas has and will always be the "home of boxing"...so it's like their home team playing.

RE: Vegas Game Thoughts
Floyd earned $30 million for the fight. He's 47-0 and the biggest star in the sport. If he was having a fight in Chicago (or anywhere), it would be a huge deal. You're way understimating his star power/how good he is.
Like 17 said, it's not like Vegas has any professional teams anyway so boxing kinda is their sport, and Floyd is the biggest star in said sport.

RE: Vegas Game Thoughts
HuskieJohn you are absolutely underestimating the draw of a big fight out there. I went to a Vitali Klitschko fight many years ago, and it was easily one of the top 3 sporting events going to live. There is just a different feel in that town on fight night.
As 7 said right now Mayweather is the last of the big draws money wise and they are milking him for everything right now.
Did he really only earn 30 for it? I know that sounds like a dumb question but doesnt he get insane PPV points on the back end?

30 was the number before the fight with the boob he fought getting 3. I know he got 80 for a fight last year, so you're probably right he'll get some PPV quan on the back end.
I'm also not sure I could ever get used to pacific time. That was just weird, especially coming from eastern time.

Thats why coming back from vegas is always the worst too, lose 2 hours or in your case 3 hours. Less recovery time....

Yesterday was hell haha. I was so paranoid I wasn't going to wake up for my flight that I literally slept in the airport. Seemed like a good decision when I was housed at 5 am.

We took a red eye out one time because it was like $75 cheaper, so a bunch of guys left early evening late afternoon, and me and one buddy stay and gamble and drink more which cost us well over the $75 we saved on the flight.
Going to the vegas airport for a 12:30am flight might be the most depressing thing in the world. Looked like a scene from a zombie movie.

Re UNLV's stadium being located in the desert: I'm sure that's why it's hard to recruit there and their coach, who won multiple national championships in FCS, has struggled to get them competitive. I'm not sure how you overcome that on a recruiting visit. "And here's our remote, depressing and obsolete stadium where no one will come watch you play. Watch out for the Gila Monsters."
