I've known ten+ people who committed suicide, none of whom were family members: Three hangings, three shootings, three jumpers in our town of 3500, three deliberate ODs on drugs.... and ONE walked off into the mountains in the dead of winter with no gear.
The one who walked into the wilderness was a very private person when he was alive. I only spoke with him about 10 times total. He left no mess for anyone to clean, and his partially eaten body was found in the spring thaw.
Anyone who happened to witness, or find the others is pretty much messed up about the experience to this day.
I got no opinion on the question of whether people who kill themselves deserve privacy. But if they really wanted privacy I figure they would have done it privately.
O well, maybe I'm a little jaded, having seen so many family members endure the aftermath.
And....I did not mean it to be the point of this when started.
I have expreienced suicide in my relatives' family. And it is not pretty. Never is.
What mapdude said in post #2 bothers me even more. Not him, but if true, then shame on them.

I'm glad no one was hurt and the horse was okay, too. Really, this may sound horribly cold, but I do understand a bit about suicide and mental illness, and I shudder to think if a family or group of people had been where she fell.

If someone decides to kill themselves, you don't have some right to know why or understand their decision...we used to have privacy, ah, the good ole days.
You mean the good ole days where we used to not put all our private business in public places and then ***** about people reading it?

You want to make this about me, but I suggest you keep your focus on the story.
Drew, you're smarter than this...so I know you are baiting. But sometimes people don't flat out say things and you have to pick up on clues. They may not "offer reasons." Take situations like Sandy Hook and Columbine. These killers may not come straight out and say "I'm pissed because of this" but context clues can piece it together. I can be on board with you saying not to put words in her mouth or if we were dogging her out...but just speculating on what could drive someone to that point is not a bad thing. Hell, my wife made an attempt on her life a little over 2 years ago. At that point if someone saw a context clue that others (myself including) could not see...nothing wrong with it. If they say "she's batshit crazy" because of some of her postings, then yeah, that it uncalled for.
However, I'm failing to see where I made it about you...but whatever you say sir.
But if we are making it about you...aren't you one of the liberal type that when people say "the good ole days" you reply with "you mean days were we used separate water fountains, etc...?
LMFAO. I'm not baiting anything, and I mean every single word I said. Moreover, how dare you compare this lady to some mass murderer.
Again, what right do you have to her medical and personal information?
I believe in privacy...
Then why did you post pics of every single room in your apartment, including (I am assuming) your roommates bedroom in another thread today.

I'm glad too. She would have in all probability killed the person she fell on.

It's my apartment, and I asked if it's OK.
Did they ask the family for permission before posting that? Yeah, didn't think so...

Tracking what? lol You posted a link in your first post to a plea for money that this woman made...No biggee it was my first impulse to think it bogus, whether it was or not. Who cares when it happened.
I've just had a lot of pleas for money thrown at me. The health pleas are mostly from Eastern Europeans. I know people who have gone over to Eastern Europe to 'help' children that were advertised online.
In general, the ones asking for money to get money out of a country are from Nigeria. The ones telling me that a relative has been hired to murder me if I don't send them money have a mideastern flavor.
Hopefully, you don't really mean all that.
This person will be laid to rest tomorrow, and quite apparently without any family or even a funeral. May God bless her.

RE: Woman Who Jumped off Peabody....
Yes, I have received scam emails threatening to kill me. The email was supposedly from someone named Mohammed and he stated that he had been hired to murder me by a one of my family members; but if I contacted him and paid money he wouldn't. Even though I knew it was a fraud, it was upsetting for a few minutes till I Googled to see if it was a known scam. It was.

As far as the children online, there were no children. It was a scam to adopt young children that didn't exist.

He took a gun with him...autopsy revealed. He was David Crosby's brother. They write him up kind of strange in the media, but, we who knew him, have different stuff to say.
Damn, David Crosby has been through too much stuff. Hard to believe he is still sane. I have always thought he was delightfully a bit cracked. It was a highlight of my life to see him recently at the Orpheum, and he still had the same old magic. He was in fine form. I love that man. Bless him.

I'm for Roof Control Laws. If the Peabody didn't have a roof she couldn't have jumped off of it.

She made it kind of personal for a lot of people choosing to go in a public place. If she didn't want things to get personal maybe she should have chosen a method other than jumping off the Peabody.

I believe we have the moral obligation to protect some mentally ill folks from themselves.
Absolutely. So even if her privacy were 'invaded', we can get that person some kind of help.
