Apogee Stadium is nice, but the sun was brutal today. They sold beer for the first time today. Wonder what the delta on concession sales will be.

Watching on TV. Yulman Stadium is a beautiful venue.

It is great, and a billion times better than a deserted Dome, but everything feels like it should be a couple inches or a couple feet wider when there is a big crowd like today. Still a great atmosphere. My 6-year-old set up a lemonade stand at our hous(1 block from stadium) and made $$$!

So UTSA, UNT and ODU have shown up this weekend. We definitely need to not get blown out against A&M like last week, or we will have zero confidence heading into the game against ODU and their stud QB. Conference slate is going to be tough.

I'm sorry, but my initial reaction to the photos I've seen is that it looks like a high school stadium.

Stanford loses 13-10 at home to USC despite totally outplaying them in every aspect of the game. USC wins in on their final drive with a 53-yard FG, while Stanford misses a chip shot for the tie. All 9 Cardinal drives got within the USC 25 yard line, yet they only scored twice. Coach Shaw, QB Hogan and FG kicker all must bear brunt of blame.

Hogan has talent, but Shaw was way too conservative with his offense, especially getting to the redzone. Stanford also desperately needs a kicker. They went 1/3 on FG, and even elected to punt twice from inside USC's 40. Still have to give major props to the Trojans' defense. They were pretty depleted today, but absolutely stiffened when they needed to.

Those red zone penalties (including 2 delay of game calls) on Stanford killed both the opening drive and the one just before half.

South Carolina is leading East Carolina 7-6 at the half. That might be an indication USC isn't that great this year - or it could mean ECU is better than expected.

Some CUSA games:

MTSU came from way behind to lose easily against Minnesota, 35-24.
FIU playing like a bunch of anti-dentites leading (Robert) Wagner 27-3 at the half.
ODU leading NC State 21-18 at the half. State fans must be beside themselves.
Future opponent La Tech leading Ooh-La-La 7-0 after one quarter.
Lightning from miles away ended the game, and my chance to win my over 51 points bet (not fair!): Bama 41, FAU 0.

McNeese St played a glorified scrimmage but they actually try to win. Heartbreaking how they lost to Nebraska...McN St looked confident and played like they belonged...let's see if our coaches get them ready for next week or will it be another practice under the lights

i think it was Nebraska that thought they were a glorified scrimmage.

IAC, it is time to leave DJ alone.

Interesting take on Pat Haden's incident in the USC-Stanford game today. The writer does make a good point - there is no reason someone like Haden should be on the playoff selection committee. He has an obvious bias and it showed during the game today (it's something Rick Greenspan would have done but that's about the only AD I can think of offhand who would have gotten into it with the refs).

Don't forget UAB losing by 13 at Miss State.

Golson continuing to look pretty darn good. His accuracy has been phenominal.

Don't look now, but Notre Dame leading Michigan late in the half by more than our halftime margin last week. And quite frankly, we looked better than Michigan has looked so far.

So the sky isn't falling?

Oh, and how impressive is ND's defense?
