So was Golson allowed on campus(and the athletic complex) during his academic suspension? Whoever worked with him did a great job. Hey Texans you might want to consider him in the next draft.

I thought you knew, Tiki-- he spent the whole year on the West Coach working with the noted QB guru/trainer (Whittingham or something similar???).

Anyone feeling a bit better about next week w/ Notre Dame throttling Michigan 21-0 at half and ECU/South Carolina in dogfight?

La Tech over LaLa 31-7 late in the 3rd...that is surprising. The way CUSA is playing this week should turn some heads.

It will be interesting to see how the folks in Austin react to tonight's game. I think most are proud of how Charlie Strong is trying to keep integrity in the game of college football, but will they be okay with a lot of losses like tonight's game appears to be going?

I don't think Swoopes could start on any other D-1 program in the state. The team who can have the best QB in the state each year made a very poor choice. BYU just teeing off on running game and daring him to do something.

Mariota is putting on a real sow in Eugene. I'd be happy if the Texans were able to pick him up

Doesn't make me feel better about next week, but does make me feel better about last week. Although I didn't feel that bad about last week before this. I would have felt bad about last week had Notre Dame come out and laid an egg tonight. But they are really beating Michigan physically more than they beat us. We beat ourselves with stupid mental errors. And ultimately our lack of defensive speed got exposed. But we really hung in there longer and better than Michigan has so far.

What we are seeing is that Bailiff is recruiting better. He's getting better players. Now we need to get them to play better.

Yes, and isn't this a reflection of the coaching? Our student-athletes tend to be smarter than those playing for the big time football factories. We shouldn't be making more mental mistakes than the other guys, yet we are and have been over the past several years.

In fairness, it's those same coaches who are doing the recruiting. And that is not something to be dismissed easily.

But you'll get no disagreement here that we need to do a better job of preparation and execution. And that is fairly on the staff.

Yes - - this is right. Let's not get carried away. Michigan is obviously more athletic than we are still - - so let's not start saying this proves our coaching is deficient. The single most unambiguous memory I have of last week's game was the glaring difference between ND's offensive speed and our defensive speed.

And whoa - check out CUSA! So much for us easily cruising along after A&M....

Michigan actually outgained ND with 289 total yards to the Irish's 280.

Obviously one stat can't tell the whole story, but I'd be curious to know how many teams outgain their opponents and get shut out.

And we gained 376 yards against Notre Dame.

My UT buddies are in hell right about now. Imploding. They like Strong's discipline. But after tonight I think they realize that he won't be a quick fix.
