My thoughts on Troy
Ok had some time to calm down and think about things....
Yesterday was embarrassing to say the least. Uab had a mission and they executed it. As one of my Uab friends said "this is the game Uab fans look forward to the most all year." They were mad after the last 3 years and wanted to make a point. And they did.
Uab has made a excellent hire in coach Clark and I knew this game could be bad. Troy had no film or anything to go off of other than JSU films as Blakeney said and it showed on the field they had no idea who they were playing.
In 2009 Troy had to open the season AT Bowling Green, and just as Uab, Bowling Green had a new coach and no films to go off of to prepare. Troy lost 31-14. BUT Troy went on to have it's best year in the SBC as they went undefeated and finished the season 9-4.
This game isn't the end of the year for us... We have lost to Uab before in the past and went on to have a bowl season. Just need to get ourselves back up and forget that game.

Losing a game 31-14 is not terrible. You turned it around and won the league. One game didn't define your season.
One game still doesn't define your season, but I would hope a Sun Belt champion wouldn't get drilled by UAB 48-10. How would that look? Getting beat and getting whipped are two different things. I hope you turn it around and have a decent season, but I would hate the perception that would give to our conference if Troy won it. Just imagine how much ammo that would give to C-USA posters that talk down on the Sun Belt.

I never thought we would win the conference this year to begin with. But I predicted 7-5...
Uab is improved I believe. And I wouldn't at all be shocked to see Uab have a bowl season.

With all due respect to your friend, I don't know a single other Blazer fan who feels that way.
Not to ding Troy, but I'd much rather beat Marshall, USM, MTSU or WKU than Troy, simply because those are conference games, or Moo U or Arkansas because of the perception of the $EC.
This game was important for UAB (and for Troy, I suspect) primarily because it was the first game, and one against a school you're neighbors with and recruit against.
That said, you bring up an excellent point. The outcome of the game yesterday may say more about UAB than Troy. You guys might pull it together and be just fine. Maybe UAB isn't the same old UAB.

AT got most of his information from my post on Troyfans. However this game was very similar to the game at BG in 09. The difference being BG was not a fast paced offense and was content to grind it out late. UAB was full throttle and we had no answer for either team. Offense started quickly in both games. The opponent adjusted and we never did.
I think I'll have a beer.

Ya think? Really? Only with more talent, size and speed. I think UAB was more talented than Troy last year, but they were out coached in that game.

Is Blakeney on the hot seat after the last few seasons down in Troy?

With the fans yes.
There is more pressure on Blakeney to win this year than ever.

Post above said Troy couldn't plan because the staff only had JSU film. Not too sure UAB has more talent than JSU.
Maybe you should tell your staff to look at a coach's pervious schools film, ya think?

My thoughts on Troy
They watched film on both teams. One for scheme and one for personnel. There's no doubt UAB had more talent than JSU.
Common sense goes a long way. Every post you read on the internet is not fact.

Ok, just be happy you haven't played JSU the last couple of years.
Common sense should have been used in troy last week it appears.

I've chosen to not think about Troy. That was one game I was sure was in the Belt's bag.
If they can pull a win out their ass this coming weekend, then perhaps I'll think about them again.

Blakeney has the Mack Brown syndrome . . . got to lop the head off to kill it.

My thoughts on Troy
With all the Bill Clark talk, I think the addition of Bryant Vincent as OC at UAB is also a big deal.
He was USA's QB coach the last couple of years and before was a championship coach at Spain Park. He's a great coach and an excellent play caller.
Joey Jones has proven he has a great eye for selecting high school coaches whose abilities can translate to the college game.
