It would be a lot easier to make the east side of the stadium the home side. Move the EMU team to the east side.

CMU moved their students from the end zone to the visitor's side.

I'd like to see our students/band move to the visitor's side.

If there were say 2,500 students/band and 6,000 others the stadium would look better. My guess.

Don't have the students occupy all rows in a section, but say 1/2 the rows and spread them out over 3 or 4 sections at mid field.

It was fun watching the students 'parade' (after the tailgating) from behind the IPF to the west side of Rynearson to gain entry to the stadium.

Wasn't for me bro, had a stalker ex who wouldn't leave me alone for 3 months after the split and I'm sure she's still trying to stalk me, walk right past me, luckily I caught a glimpse and looked the other way with my face covered.

I did tell Heather that I love the turf. It really breaks up the green (turf) and red (track) look.

Yes we talked turf, lights, and scoreboard including $. Heather did indicate ball park numbers on them.

More details later when I get home.

BTW, hope I'm not repeating myself in another post, but Heather did say (and I saw a late July photo) which indicated that originally the field look 'too black' and that Field Turf folks had to come up with, at her insistence, new pellets, gray (rather than black), to give the field the look we saw Saturday night. I think the word was "Heather, we've never done gray pellets before..."

I re-watched the game on ESPN3 and the field looked brilliant.

In late July, not so sure.

BTW, she did indicate that Field Turf folks refused to do the E. Washington red. They didn't want to risk the 'brand reputation' on a field which might not look good. (actually I like it)

Who do they count? The west stands were pretty much full. I would guess 12,000+ were in the seats

There is the question as to how many each side holds.

I assume it is 15K each. Someone with the U years ago said the West side has more seats.

The west side looked 2/3 full to me. The sections for students and band were mostly full, the middle sections (reserved) were pretty full (say 2/3+) and the adjacent section or two was pretty full. Finally, from say the 20 yard line to the Convo was maybe 1/3 full.

Interesting the first unreserved section, 107 (?), was fuller than the adjacent reserved section (and that could be because the seats were cheaper, but still desirable).

Someone also said parents of frosh were not counted because their tickets were free and didn't meet the NCAA requirements for attendance counting purposes.

BTW, when looking at seats looking down there aren't as many 'butts in seats' as it may appear. Folks usually aren't sitting elbow to elbow, ala at UofM where they are squeezed together and everyone gets say 20" of bench. At The Factory, one can easily have 2 - 2 1/2 feet of bench - never had the same feeling as in a plane.

You sound shocked.

Let me ask you this - why would anyone show up for the EMU-Morgan State football game who isn't an alumni or current student? What's the incentive? There really wasn't an up side to this game. We either pummel a FCS school, barely win against an opponent we should beat handily or lose. Nothing exciting in any of those scenarios. Add to that the fact that we have had an abysmal program for years and, quite frankly, no one cares. It is a lot easier to stay home and watch the later games on ESPN - you don't have to drive anywhere, you don't have to pay for something to eat, you don't have to walk anywhere to go to the bathroom, etc. EMU has to make people want to come to games in order for people to show up.

Perhaps if we have a winning season this year or show some real signs of life more people "might" show up next year.

Nope! Not buying it. If it was DII or DIII, then yes, one could argue that you could just stay home. To be in Division One football--which is a privilege, not a right, you simply have to be able to draw more than the lower division schools, no matter who the opponent is. There are plenty of schools who haven't won in many years, but by virtue of being in NCAA's top division, fans will come out--especially for the season opener!

It is time to put up or shut up. If the demand is just not there, if not enough people give a sh**, it is time to drop down. Our next home game will have fewer than 5,000 fans in attendance, which is a below average crowd for a mid-major BASKETBALL game.

Dear Bob Wickersham,
HuronRob is right. The losing has been going on for so long, people need to be convinced that there is a team worth watching. This is not going to change over night. Actually, having almost 9,000 show up for the game against Morgan State is better than 2,000.
All this gloom and doom about the Florida game is a bit premature. Are we definite underdogs, of course, but let's see what happens. We have an offense that is capable of scoring points, and we may be surprised.

I'm going to Vegas tomorrow. I don't think any (sports) books (where one bets) expects us to get shutout Saturday.

I don't expect to find any sports books having us as a 50 point underdog as one poster suggests. 04-chairshot

RE: grey turf, scoreboard and lights
I watched a fair amount of the second half of your game, and I thought it looked really good at night. The gray and the lights really made the green E, the endzones, and the MAC logo stand out. Not sure how it'll look for day games in October, but for one night I approve.
