I think we'd have to put Temple over Vanderbilt (convincingly)in that category, as well.

Temple over Vandy definitely deserves inclusion. I sort of expected the ULM win after their performances vs. P5 opponents in recent years. I don't think Temple had beaten a P5 opponent since that win against Maryland years ago.

I'm just talking about Belt games. They'll be bragging that they are 3-0 and two of the wins are over FCS teams.07-coffee3
It's all going to be ok.

good07-coffee3 Notice you Board are pumpin a poor playing MAC team as a loser to FCS and Ga State just barely escaped a new FCS team in Abilene Christian. Figures07-coffee3 (If You can't understand, your problem) Why have a thread on a Weak MAC team losing to a FCS ? Actually they won so there's nothing there You had two very weak teams playing FCS. Ga State barely came back or they would have lost. Yes you are 3-0, but you can't deny two are vs weak FCS teams.

Go play with your stupid comments on the Belt board. You are too cowardly to admit that you diss CUSA every chance you get then come here as nothing happened. Figures.

CajunFanatico is the biggest troll/pot-stirrer I've ever seen. He literally sits on the SBC board and talks about NOTHING except C-USA and then comes over here and pretends not to hate our guts. Even those on the SBC board get tired of his constant C-USA talk. I find his obsession a bit revealing...

Thread wasn't started by anyone pimping anything about the SBC. Don't lump everyone, doesn't make you any better.

Interesting. The last 5 threads I started on the Belt Forum were:

SunBelt 3 wins, no losses...everyone else?
ESPN releases Preseason Conference Football Power Rankings
Phil Steele's SunBelt Home Field Advantage Ranking
"There's a very real possibility of football going away"
Cajun QB Terrance Broadway named to Manning Award Watch List

Is that how you define talks about NOTHING except C-USA?

BTW, didn't you tell us you don't visit the Belt board?

This. The planning and execution has been nearly flawless to date. Almost every decision regarding ODU football has been towards the long term success of the program.

Being former CAA rivals with Georgia State, it was quite the contrast seeing the two programs start up.

Nitpick - in hindsight, was the decision to upfit the Foreman clamshell (I believe you built a new building in one endzone) a bad move since the $25Mil would have been better directed at the new stadium you are having to build anyway?

Capital Expenditures are a very tricky issue to navigate. Flexibility and not overbuilding seem to be the strategies these days.

In hindsight, sure, but unlike Charlotte and Georgia State, there was no firm plan to take the first boat to FBS. ODU probably would have been content to be in the CAA for at least the short and mid-term, though circumstances may have forced their hand no matter what. The upgraded Foreman would have been a fine CAA home and a passable low-FBS home, which was probably the 10-year plan.

That said, better to take the opportunity when it presented itself, even as the facilities lagged, than to build an FBS-quality stadium and then realize the last boat just left the docks.

Charlotte didn't plan to go FBS this fast either and certainly didn't take the "first boat to FBS" since we turned down the Sun Belt offer BEFORE we got the CUSA one.

I was under the impression that Charlotte always had eyes on moving to FBS and doing so fairly quickly. Maybe they weren't expecting to do it almost as soon as they started the program, but I can't imagine they were planning on a long-term stay in FCS -- especially since the CAA wouldn't take them as a football-only and the other reasonable options were the Big South and soon-to-be-depleted Socon.

They didn't take the Sun Belt offer, true, but didn't the CUSA offer come pretty quickly after? It sounds like it was a case of "thanks, but we're about to get the CUSA offer officially and that's a better fit" as opposed to "we're not ready to move to FBS at this time"

If ESPN was right, Cal Poly was a seven-point road favorite. So not only was NMSU's win not weak ... it was actually a mild upset.

You're straying off the reservation. Keep talking like that and you'll be uninvited to the next Tupperware party with the ladies.

Don't confuse being polite with being unrealistic. Don't confuse relief for excitement.

We know that Georgia State botched its moveup. Badly. They moved up too quickly and they had an awful head coach to start off. They have (I think) a good coach now and will slowly right the ship

I'm relieved that Georgia State has beaten the one FCS team it will play this year. I'm happy for the fans of Ga State, who saw their team win its first game since 2012 and its first home game since 2011 (!). Any team that hasn't won a home game in almost 3 years isn't going to draw well.
