It is Georgia State's first win at home since 2011.

I don't think Georgia State's win last night represents a corner turned or even a step in the right direction but when someone is dying of thirst even a drop of water is worth drinking.

Not even close to actual butts in the seats. Maybe 2000.

Have to remember they count season tickets regardless. I'd say 6k max in the building.

ruston hit it on the nose...6100 in seats

Only College Football Game in the world last night...Don't worry, I'm sure that team will likely not be discussed the rest of the year...

Your QB looked pretty decent last night.

That defense though 03-puke

Not sure how long you have that QB, but you could build something solid around him on offense.

JUCO transfer, so two years. The kid behind him (Fr.) maybe even better.

I'm sure UTSA and North Texas will have buy games with Abilene Christian now that they're FCS.

Let's not anoint ODU as the "great startup program" just yet. Play some games against real competition, then talk.

ODU has done everything right so far. Not talking wins, etc, just the operational issues regarding starting a program from scratch. Charlotte's AD actually made a visit to ODU to see how ODU was doing things during ther formation of our football program.
This. The planning and execution has been nearly flawless to date. Almost every decision regarding ODU football has been towards the long term success of the program.

Being former CAA rivals with Georgia State, it was quite the contrast seeing the two programs start up.

Nitpick - in hindsight, was the decision to upfit the Foreman clamshell (I believe you built a new building in one endzone) a bad move since the $25Mil would have been better directed at the new stadium you are having to build anyway?

Capital Expenditures are a very tricky issue to navigate. Flexibility and not overbuilding seem to be the strategies these days.

In hindsight, sure, but unlike Charlotte and Georgia State, there was no firm plan to take the first boat to FBS. ODU probably would have been content to be in the CAA for at least the short and mid-term, though circumstances may have forced their hand no matter what. The upgraded Foreman would have been a fine CAA home and a passable low-FBS home, which was probably the 10-year plan.

That said, better to take the opportunity when it presented itself, even as the facilities lagged, than to build an FBS-quality stadium and then realize the last boat just left the docks.

This is correct.

To add to this, in the new ODU capital plan, Foreman Field will be repurposed, and the end zone building will become a conference facility.

The correct decisions were made, given the goals at the time. And now being FBS, a new stadium is in the works.

No offense intended. I was just curious. That is good that they will be able to repurpose the new building.

Charlotte is facing difficult expansion decisions with the quick move up. Very important that they handle it correctly.

Charlotte actually has used UTSA more than ODU (atleast on the football related stuff). Probably more ODU on gameday management stuff.

Charlotte didn't plan to go FBS this fast either and certainly didn't take the "first boat to FBS" since we turned down the Sun Belt offer BEFORE we got the CUSA one.

Frankly I could care less about Ga State BARELY beating Abiline Christian or NMSU beatling Ca Poly. Both are FCS. The ULM win over Wake is the single accomplishment so far in week one. Other wins are just wins over FCS. Congrats to ULM

I think we'd have to put Temple over Vanderbilt (convincingly)in that category, as well.

Temple over Vandy definitely deserves inclusion. I sort of expected the ULM win after their performances vs. P5 opponents in recent years. I don't think Temple had beaten a P5 opponent since that win against Maryland years ago.

I'm just talking about Belt games. They'll be bragging that they are 3-0 and two of the wins are over FCS teams.07-coffee3
