In terms of truisms, the worst P5 teams are no better than the best Go5 teams, the worst Go5 teams are no better than the best FCS teams, the worst FCS teams are no better than the best Div2 teams, the worst Div2 teams are no better than the best Div3 teams. I reckon it could keep going, in that the worst Div3 teams are not better than the best big school HS teams and then keep it going from there.
But what a given Go5 team should aspire to is to be among the
best Go5 teams, so it continues to be the case that if a Go5 school is "not beating an FCS school", that likely means it is not where it should aspire to be, among the best Go5 schools.
And its absurd for a P5 school to even be playing an FCS school or, like the Mississippi's in the SEC, duck playing any other P5 schools OOC at all, except in bowl games (and most SEC bowl games are de-facto "home away from home" in-conference footprint bowl games anyway). If they cannot fill out their schedule among the over 100 schools in FBS, then why don't they drop their spot in the P5 conference? I guarantee that there are some ambitious Go5 schools that would happily drop playing FCS schools in return for a spot in a P5 conference.
And its also the case that "Most MAC fans think" is certainly hyperbole, when the evidence is what a handful of commentators said on some particular board of some particular sports talk bulletin board system.
