RE: Does Aresco smooze BYU at the UConn game?
Areseco can "smooze" BYU when they come to Orlando. Playing in a football conference with UCF is a much better selling point than playing in a conference with UConn.

Jesus, dude. Are we going to have a WHOLE season of you beating your chest because UCF won one game in its history that registered on a national scale? Congrats on last year. However, THIS year is THIS year!
With just one comment, you now have me pulling for Penn State. Some of your egos need to be knocked down a peg or two.

Dude, relax. People have no sense of humor around here. Its joke.
You can root for Penn State if you want. That's fine with me. I'll still be rooting for UConn.

UCF deserves to pound their chest since last season, that Fiesta win was huge, and frankly it benefited us all as a conference. More than any other season, past or future, the first season for a brand new and much maligned conference was critical.
Of course, now it's this year and that 'shine' has an expiration date that's about to come due!!! If they wanna KEEP pounding their chest, they gotta win it again!
As great as the Temple win was last night, I think it was huge that Boise lost. If they had won, and then tore through a weak MWC schedule, we'd have had NO chance at the BCS bowl slot. Thank God Boise lost.

RE: Does Aresco smooze BYU at the UConn game?
Aresco in Ireland is actually a good play. Why in the world wouldn't he promote the American in an overseas game featuring the defending AAC champion that won a BCS bowl against an Autonomy 5 champion? There are a ton of Penn St., Big Ten, and just college football fan eyeballs that will be watching to see if UCF is for real or just an aberration. The College Game Day audience will flip to the UCF-Penn St. game.
He better be in New Orleans next weekend for Tulane's new stadium opener against Georgia Tech. The American's potential will be propelled or pulled down by the conference members that aren't contending for the conference title.
Then, he should fly to Provo for the Houston v. BYU game on Thursday, September 11. The game is on ESPN and Aresco can do way more talking with the real decision makers if he's on BYU's campus. There might even be ESPN reps on campus as well.

Mormond can not drink Dr. Pepper, because it has caffeine in it. So it will have to caffeine free Dr. Pepper instead!

BYU isn't coming unless ESPN renegs on their TV deal or at least quadruples the payout to the AAC for our TV deal.

This ^^^^^^^.
Six million dollars verses 2 million dollars - which would you rather have per year. If they don't get in the access bowl they always have the Poinsettia Bowl which loves to have them year after year. The years BYU does not get into the Poinsettia Bowl you better believe Aresco and the AAC will sign them up for the Miami Bowl which has the potential to become a very good bowl for the AAC down the road. BYU would be a great addition to the AAC but I don't see the AAC getting much more than a scheduling commitment from BYU for some minor bowl concessions unless the AAC get P-5 status. A decent scheduling commitment should shake a few extra dollars out of the ESPN money tree especially if the AAC can get a scheduling commitment from Army too for some minor bowl concessions. If the scheduling route is the way to go then the AAC members get to keep the 12 million dollar CFP money to themselves at 1 million dollars a piece. They also keep the increased TV revenue, and don't have to share the bowl or play off revenue either. Scheduling arrangements with BYU and Army are win - win situations too. If Army and BYU aren't opponents in the Miami Bowl you give up trinket bowls like the Bahamas Bowl, the Camilla Bowl, or the bowl in FAU stadium for increased TV revenue from scheduling commitments with them.
