AAC - Potential best move
If the AAC was smart, they would invite USM, FIU, FAU and Marshall to join the conference. This would solidify the conference and make it attractive enough that no current AAC school would ever desire to leave it. They would be stupid not to make this move - right now.

Take winning programs markets don't work.
Marshall
USM
Louisiana
MTSU
Arkansas state
All of these programs will still be winning in 5 years..FIU and FAU are flashes in the pan
North Texas although SMU is too close but still better than Florida handicaps
Are all winners and will out draw FIU and FAU combined on both tv and in the stands!

That would strengthen the grip on Florida. However, I can see an argument for UTEP over one of the F*U schools.

With UCF and USF already a cut above FIU and FAU clearly in the state of Florida, what exactly does either program bring to the AAC?
Southern Miss makes sense, but the Eagles will have to get out of their financial hole first I imagine.

Off topic, I have a skunk in my backyard in the middle of Austin. How do I get rid of it without getting sprayed?

RE: AAC - Potential best move
CUSA is kicking itself over its market grab. It's tv deal went nowhere! The reason is yes FIU and FAU have good markets. But one Giant problem, they really don't have any pull in that market. Not only that no one is going to sit down and watch bad teams.
Hate to say it but the sun belt beat CUSA in the first wave of Realignment. And the belt really didn't do anything. Now MTSU and WKU hurt. But Louisiana and Arkansas state is what made that league click the last 5 years or so. If you haven't go look at the projects these 2 teams have going both have over 60 million dollar renovations going on right now! Keep preaching markets while 2 smaller markets continue to win and build.
Marshall is the obvious choice, I believe USM is #2 they will rebuild and have another run

Reading statements like that help me understand why you have -28 reps, with less than 1,000 posts.
C-USA did fine in that last round of realignment. Three of the six teams added finished last season with bowl eligible records. FAU had a good season, despite some unusual coaching issues. FIU had a terrible season, but nabbing the Florida twins served a few purposes for C-USA. It provides the eastern teams annual games in top Florida recruiting grounds, and it locks the Sun Belt out of Florida. It was a smart move. Ruthless, but smart.
Yes, the C-USA T.V. deal didn't change. Now, with 14 programs, each team earns a little less than a million dollars a year. Last I checked, that means each C-USA team earns about 8 times more than what the entire Sun Belt conference gets.
Just for the record. The big market C-USA programs that were added have building projects too. Building projects and renovations are not elevating your programs. Those projects are helping you try to keep up. Most programs in most conferences have similar projects in the works.

The teams I think we have ANY business inviting from the Belt are Louisiana and Arkansas State.

The teams I would add are Army, Air Force, Rice and possibly William & Mary, if they can improve their program, and maybe Buffalo.

Best potential move for the AAC is to do nothing. They could loose half a dozen teams and still be the most attractive G5 conference in the land.

If the ACC was smart they would cut Pitt and CUSE, both are dragging down the conf power rankings.

I agree with the above, although I'd alter it slightly to say that markets aren't everything, and that the AAC is already IN enough markets, and what it needs most is brands.
So, with that said, I'd say that with 12 schools already (counting Navy who joins next season), there is absolutely nothing gained through expansion unless the team(s) being added would be among the 'best' brands in the league from day 1. So, I stand by my desire to look to BYU and Army or Air Force. Outside of that, there's nobody that is worth going over 12 teams for, at least at this point in time.

Hate to say it? You are a Sun Belt homer!
Yeah those Idaho, New Mexico State and Georgia State adds just to get to 11 (not even at 12) were awesome!
Down CUSA if you want but the Sun Belt is still seen as the worst conference in FBS. Every school in the Sun Belt would jump at a CUSA invite. That says it all.

This has actually worked for me on several occasions. Let em see you from a distance & walk slowly towards em, it will walk off. If it comes back later, repeat.
