Fallout/Backlash from Hawaii AD's comments of dropping football
Evidently, Hawaii's AD made those comments in order to provide incentive for the state legislature to vote for $3 million of funds for Hawaii's athletic program. According to comments made in the link, travel costs including subsidizing travel costs of MWC football opponents, is the primary culprit for the budget crisis. It does seem that the Hawaii AD should have been astutue enough to realize his comments would be badly received.

RE: Fallout/Backlash from Hawaii AD's comments of dropping football
Googling around, it seems that the state of Hawaii laid out money starting in 2008 to refurbish old Aloha Stadium and that it was supposed to be done by last year. Does anyone know the outcome?

I know ECU fans had terrible things to say about their Hawaii Bowl experience, but that was in 2007, and ECU'ers complained more about the people than the physical stadium.

TerryD said nice things, but he seems happy with every Notre Dame bowl trip.
