They think Dom is a Memphis native

I dunno:
Shaq
Austin
Godfrey
Iverson
Hawkins in a pinch at the 4.
That's 2 deep at each post with guys that have logged substantial D1 minutes plus Iverson who has talent out the wazoo. Disregarding guys like Stan Simpson, Pierre Niles, Ferro Hall who weren't able to make an impact, that's more depth than we've had in the post for 10+ years.
I'd rather have someone a little heavier than 230 in the rotation so we can body up some true opposing 5 men, but the back court needed some experience.

I never saw/heard a weight for Calvin Godfrey. 200? 220? Anybody know?

We were doomed when Bill Self turned Tarik Black into a superstar, and Pastner couldn't get the team to shoot 94.5% on their free throws; which left 8 points per game off of the board.

Take your pick:
A talented University of Memphis frontcourt added another big body Thursday in 6-9, 220-pound Southern University transfer Calvin Godfrey.
Calvin Godfrey, a 6-9, 210-pound power forward who spent last season at Southern, will transfer to Memphis and be eligible immediately under the APR waiver.
Godfrey, a 6-foot-8 forward from Milwaukee, started five games as a freshman and scored 23 points with 11 rebounds in a late-season win over Colorado
The 6-foot-7 Godfrey began his career at Iowa State before being dismissed for marijuana possession. He averaged 13.1 points and 8.8 rebounds last season at Southern

I've seen him listed at 210. Seen pics of him last season and he looks closer to 225.

Seriously? We basically exchange a big in Godfrey for a big in Big Dom and then we got a PG in Johnson for a G/F in Wilson. Not a lot of difference than it was before other than more experience in the two coming here
I don’t remember Wilson playing any guard last season unless you consider Chris’ 3 spot a guard position.
With Johnson we now have 4 guards with the primary attribute of scoring. Josh has said all summer we must play inside-out to get the most out of the frontcourt so who is going to feed them the ball? Over the 4 game Canadian exhibition Pookie & Markel had 11 assists each and Magee 10. Yesterday Pookie was the leading scorer but only had 1 assist. IMHO we have never been patient enough to make the good entry pass.
This is what happened last season with our bigs getting fed and producing one game and the next game they rarely touched the ball. A team can’t play consistent if all players are not on the same page as to the game plan.
So I don’t know. Today’s era Tiger’s teams have only played inside-out when they wanted to. This team will have to do it more than in spots before I can say they are actually doing it.
Quote:Over the 4 game Canadian exhibition Pookie & Markel had 11 assists each and Magee 10
8 assists per game; with only one post player and poor outside shooting, AND the first game action from all 4 players. Awesome job as usual, of completely screwing up the facts.
We have 3 full time point guards. Johnson has been a point guard his entire career; Magee has been a point guard his entire life; and Pookie was a point guard in at least the last 2 years of his high school playing days. Pookie and Magee played the point the entire time in Canada.
As usual, you don't have a clue what you are talking about.

Shaq and Nick, 2 forwards, were our two leading scorers in Canada. What's the issue?

Real story?
A guy not quite good enough to play for the Tigers is being targeted by utk.
And/or
problem player is run off by coach who refuses to throw player under the bus after multiple issues.
Both are true, which one is the real story you want to hear?
I like the one about the replacement that is just as crazy doe. Tell that one.
Whoa whoa...I thought our coach said that Dom was more talented then either Austin or Shaq.
I know there were posters here that said Dom was the most skilled 6'10+ guy Memphis has had in the last two decades.
Now, all of a sudden, he is no good?

RE: Dom To UT
If Dom is allowed to play this year then obviously the released story of Dom "deciding to leave", a "surprise...", "going to SWTCC" etc is not true. If Dom is allowed to play this year at UTK it will be proven to the NCAA's satisfaction that he was "run off" - and we will know what happened is different than the story told when Dom left. I wish Dom luck either way. Not so much for UTK's benefit but just hope the young man gets his life together & has some success wherever or whenever.

Dom had multiple chances. No tears here.
It isn't like 5 years ago when we only had 2 or 3 bogs

I'll enjoy watching him play, even if I don't care for the Vols. Same with Jarnell and Barton when they wore urnge.

That's not all that the coach said about Dom.....he added right after that its up to Dom and his attitude and its all about what's in between the head

Nichols didn't get the ball enough, and when he did; the guards didn't feed it to him properly.

The truth is somewhere in between. I wouldn't expect you to be able to distinguish between potential and performance. I wouldn't expect you to be able to say anything that isn't completely slanted to one side, while ignoring basic facts.
