That statement makes no sense. I am fully educated on MANY (not all) Georgia Southern fans telling folks how special they are.
Besides, it was a joke. I hearken back to when Georgia Southern was announced and several of your more... boisterous fans came here to "educate" everyone.
Too bad we got ya all "educated" on an offense that you are aren't going to have to face unless you play Navy, Army or GT... or for GAST when they play KSU.

On the contrary, ahem...2005, and we routinely played NSU in the SLC; who ran the triple O. We took on Navy in 2012 and we'll see them again this year before we get GaSo. TXST fans need no education....thanks anyway.

Figured most GaSo fans would be claiming the usual; perfect season, that crystal football thing was retired so the equivalent of that. Winning by 100+ points, not being scored on. The usual.

Well, you have received some what of an Edu. on it.... still cant believe we blew a 14 point lead going into the 4th Qtr. (as I recall).
You guys didnt get so lucky in 2012, and with FBS power - we should have been quickly better than Navy.
NSU (Nickol state?) is not the same, all options are not created equal. It has to be a branch off the Paul Johnson tree.
At any rate, we arent talking about 05 - we were talking about the birth place/program for that specific version of the flex 3-0 going to FBS with it and the strenght that would give us in transition - but.... "the world will never know" now.

Trying this to excite GoApps70. :goat:
And this just because it would be funny. :monkey:
Let's see what happens.. probably nothing.
Oh well, maybe it would have worked with the word "dead" in front of the animal.

Not sure about your Navy reference (statement is confusing) but we were far from having FBS power in 2012. Fran's first full class was signed in 2012 so we were still FCS talent laden with JUCOs thrown in. (They had 11 days to throw together the 2011 class). Fran's guys are this years' Jr's and Srs
To say no other Triple O is comparable to yours is bunk. We handled that TO pretty well, so it's a wash. Handling Navy's was tougher. We had the same DC both times. In '05 we had the FCS personnel to deal with the FCS version. In 2012 we did not have the FBS talent to compete with Navy.

Just don't argue with our band guys. All have played and coached at all levels. They are loving out transition to the X Box mentality. Theapl supremely believe that this version of the offense will work.

That was arguably the worst team we ever put in the playoffs versus the only team you guys ever had that won a playoff game. We needed an unlikely win over Furman to even get into the playoffs without which we'd have absolutely no quality wins.
I'm not trying to talk smack and I find some of the chest-puffing our fans are doing here annoying, but that's still a fact.

I think the bigger point would be that it was... almost 9 years ago?
Most of the players we have on the field this year were learning cursive and multiplication when that game was played.

Wow! You guys in Texas must start early! We don't learn cursive and 'rithmatic until our freshman year in college.

Ha, you're wrong! We won back to back NC's, just not FCS. Know your history there bub.
Come on, I only bring that game up because of the consistent references to how nobody in the SBC can play well vs teams that run the TO; which has been brought up more times than I can remember the past 2 years. (that and constant reminders of NC's).
App has been more humble, even though their NC's - 3 in a row mind you - are more relevant than GaSo's last NC.

In fairness, I haven't seen many teams actually stop flexbone offenses from the SBC, including you guys. We scored 35 on you guys back in 2005....that's enough to win a lot of football games.
The problem is the flexbone team's defense doesn't always match up well to the opposing team. I think Troy beat Navy 41-31 2 years ago. I don't see that as Troy stopping Navy. It's more like Navy couldn't stop Troy.
It's a lot of the same stuff Muschamp talked about after our win against them, the best way is to create separation on the scoreboard and make the flex team play catch up. They're going to grind you and get a lot of yards. You put them in a situation where they are more likely to make mistakes and you'll win most of the time.
I agree the flex isn't the unstoppable force that a lot of our fans think it is. But I see a lot of times a team giving up multiple touchdowns claiming they "stopped" the offense...I'm not sure how you can really claim that when you've given up 4+ TD's though.
I'll be even more honest....under our former coaching staff, I wasn't hanging my hat on being a dominant force in the conference. There were way too many things that were not improving and some that were getting worse.

This is something I think people overlook. Our secondary in 2012 was probably one of the best in all of college football (the NFL seems to think so at least) and yet we still couldn't stop App State and ODU from getting a mile of passing offense.
Back in the late 90s/early 00s the only good pass-heavy team we encountered was FAMU, so defensively it was smooth sailing for the most part. There's no doubt in my mind we could absolutely torch most G5 defenses with the TO but playing defense might be hard.
