I do think that Texans was a bad name choice. Narrowed the merchandise market.

Maybe they should change the name of the Wellpinit High School Redskins too. We don't want Indians using such a derogatory name. Can we please move on from this liberal, idiotic nonsense already.

It was actually a merchandising decision. Narrowed the target market, but made it damned popular within that target market.

This is a point I've tried to make before about people like Chick-Fil-A. They may make public stands that put off certain potential markets (although my lesbian friends are always stopping there), but if doing so increases brand loyalty among their best customers (evangelical Christians, make no mistake) it is still a good marketing decision.

I will never like the Redskins, no matter what they do with their name, so I really don't care. It's really not a Cowboys v. Redskins thing, although I'm from Texas. I've disliked the Redskins since before the Cowboys existed. Hell, there was a time when I had several friends on the coaching staff, and I STILL couldn't cheer for them. And usually if some friends are coaching for a team at any level--HS, university, pro--I cheer for them at least while those people are coaching there.

Part of it is that I simply find it impossible to cheer for any team that represents an area populated by the multitude of fat ass, lazy, overpaid bureaucrats who are screwing the rest of us. Don't like Skins, don't like Nats (although Rendon is playing for them), don't like Bullets, don't like Capitals, don't like DC United, none of them. I do have several Native American friends, mostly Navajo, and their take is that they wish the name would go away, but not nearly as much as they wish a bunch of overpaid white guys would stop telling them how they are supposed to feel about it.

DOnt forget, we have to change the state name of Oklahoma.

The Sooners of .. that state we can't mention.

I used to be a huge fan of the Mike & Mike show. I REFUSE to listen to them anymore since Greenburg said he was doing the same thing.
