It would make sense if Key knew last year. UCF is a much better job than UAB.

RE: O'Leary stepping down?
Unless there is a major health-issue going on, it would be incredibly weird for a college football Head Coach to resign on August 31 after the first game of the season. Can anyone think of anybody who's done that before?

I think that game sets up a grand exit. An Irish coach going out in Ireland...against Penn St. To boot. Who cares if it's after the first game. Most likely the coaching staff has known for awhile and everything is in place (if indeed true).

He had a heart attack when he 1st moved to Orlando. My guess is it is health related. Now he gets to leave after the bcs win.

I think it's a possibility. Had we not had the Ireland game, I think he would have retired after the Fiesta Bowl.

Me thinks well oil machine to continue running as originally thought even after O'Leary steps down... Still kind of strange, hope it isn't anything bad, like football recruiting violations.... Just sy'n

RE: O'Leary stepping down?
very odd time to be stepping down...not trying to start anything but usually when you see something this out of the ordinary the reason(s) are not very good in the end. IE, violations, illegal activities, law breaking, etc.
again, I have heard NOTHING about the why's....I'm just saying that when something looks odd, usually there is a reason for it, even if it takes a little time for it to come out.

I could see him announcing in Ireland and finishing up the year. George calls his own shots, when he is done he will do it on his own terms and line up his replacements which has already been done.

I saw that post "Heart attack his first year"... But Bearcats1 is right, 9 of 10 something bad was going on... If true, violations/illegal activities will then be self later revealed by said university and that's when head coaches run for cover.
