I saw that post "Heart attack his first year"... But Bearcats1 is right, 9 of 10 something bad was going on... If true, violations/illegal activities will then be self later revealed by said university and that's when head coaches run for cover.

yup

and to be fair, I made my comments with a "health issues aside" angle....

RE: O'Leary stepping down?
GOL has been rumored to be retiring for at least three years now. Two years ago, he was quoted as saying he wanted just one season in the Big East to see what he could do. Well he got that. This has some legs. Brent Key has been out interviewing each of the last three seasons and has always turned jobs down and gotten huge pay raises. He's pretty much been given every title an assistant coach could have, short of actually being named HCIW (which by NCAA rule would prevent him from recruiting off campus). I speculated over a year ago that GOL would go after the 2013 season, but would probably wait until after the Ireland trip. I'm sticking to that for now.

GOL just told the Orlando Sentinel He has no plans on leaving and doesn't know where that came from.

RE: O'Leary stepping down?
Coaches come and go and as fans you just hope they leave the program better than they found it. Coach O'Leary has earned the right to leave UCF on his own terms. It does not get much better than a BCS win and Top 10 finish but if he wants several more years as a victory lap in his coaching career and to pocket some more money then he has certainly earned that right.

I agree. This may be a move to ensure Brent Key doesn't bolt like Muschamp did when he was HCIW at Texas. Could be health related as well.

The vast majority do not. There a few hold outs from our 4-8 down year. The guys is old school to the core which rubs some new fans raw who expect instant gratification. He is not a public person so most people miss his large donations back to the school, multiple suites he buys for football, basketball and regular baseball attendance. He has went out and directly raised millions for UCF as area leaders understand and appreciate him. His biggest fault might be loyalty to his coaches which I understand as assistants with young families get the shortest leashes.

Just saying, where was the program and facilities in 2004 vs today? A lot of us G5 programs would take that decade.

Didn't he just sign a contract extension and get a nice raise?
