RedditCFB made an attempt to determine which team is the most hated in each state:


unfortunately, sample sizes in some states were so small that we get weird results like Michigan being the most hated state west of the Rockies.

Nonetheless, SOME of this is very believable (like people in LA, MS and TN hate Bama, or WV hates VT, etc.)

That's easy - everyone in Texas who is NOT a Longhorn fan hates UT.
Same for non-Buckeye fans in Ohio, non-Tar Heel fans in NC, and non-Hokie fans in Virginia.

Florida Gators easily. Miami/FSU is a lot more respectful

School I always want Louisville to beat. Kentucky. Not really hating though. intense rivalry.

I have been surprised over the years at the amount of hatred towards VT that the non-UVA schools in Virginia has, even when compared to UVA.

Another interesting thing that I read in the thread was there is an incredible amount of parity between UF, FSU, and UM. The spread between the schools was only ten votes (out of several hundred).

That's simple.. Kentucky. My 2nd favorite team is whoever is playing the Cayuts any given day, and that goes down to track events and swimming meets.

It's interesting that in the south, the most hated team in the state is a state team for every state except Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee and Georgia.

Kentucky - UK
Virginia - VT
North Carolina - UNC
South Carolina - USC-E
Florida - UF
Alabama - Alabama
Mississippi - Ole Miss

Texas is commanding a big swath of hate around them. Not a surprise.

I like that Kansas's most hated team is Missouri and Missouri's most hated team is Kansas. Too bad they don't play each other.
