RE: Wk 1 AAC MyLines/Your Lines: For Whom the Bell Tolls!
Tulane (-3) @ Tulsa - Just a feeling. Tulane's ready to start winning again
Temple @ Vanderbilt (-10) - Temple will put up points, but not enough
BYU (-17) @ UConn - UConn is better than last year, but still has work to do
UTSA @ Houston (-14) - UTSA gives them a game but can't keep up for long
Penn St vs. UCF (-7) - Hackenberg's a good QB, but UCF's secondary is better
Austin Peay @ Memphis (-23) - I expect Memphis to be pretty good this year
WCU @ USF (-20) - Willie won't overlook their FCS opponent this year, even one as bad as WCU
NCCU @ ECU (-28) - ECU should win comfortably unless they're looking ahead to USC
SMU @ Baylor (-35) - Baylor looks to impress the committee early

dude, your not doin any research, we know how to play football in new england, we was in a bcs conf for many years and did well. ever here of everett mass high or Ansonia conn high, they're new England fb factories, don't sleep on UConn... underestimate us an ecu will be in for a surprise, just ask Memphis fans, mark my words. UConn in the nfl see below,
http://www.courant.com/sports/football/h...0447.story
ECU won't underestimate UCONN... but we'll still beat you. And if you're comparing a win against Memphis to a potential win against ECU, you obviously don't know much about ECU... we're a lot better than Memphis. (No disrespect to Memphis)
Memphis was in almost every game they played, they almost beat louville and they will be better this year, they have a good coach as do we. im comparing their body of work pal.
UConn has a great young qb, good recievers, great freshman running back, good dline and linebackers. the frosh will start he's 5-9 210 and very hard to tackle. seems like uconn is vaSTLY UNDERATED, this yr.
we get 40 k at our stadium only 10k less than you and its expandable.
to 50k. you will see the electric atmosphere when we play byu and UConn has a good chance to win. the stadium will be packed and my kid will be there.
I say UConn goes 8-4
only weakness is one side of the ol and they working feverishly to fix it

I am not underestimating UConn. I actually suspect that UConn and USF will be a couple of the most improved teams in the league. However, I just think that BYU is going to be very good this year.
I would like to hear from UConn posters as to why they feel that UConn is going to beat BYU. UConn posters seem outraged that people are picking BYU to win, but the UConn posters never explain what makes everyone picking against them wrong. Does BYU have injuries that we don't know about? Does UConn have secret weapons that they will spring on BYU? What are we missing?

BYU does have injuries and suspensions. Starting RB and 2 Wrs will be out. UConn will cover. I'd be shocked if they win. Can't wait either way though.

Casey cochran 3 star rivals will start, when he came in late in the season they won there last 3 games. He torched a good memphis def for 45 points, they bring back a veteran recieving corps. Reubin frank an campenelli on def two 300 pounders jr's.

To be clear. The "they" I was referring to in "I'd be schoked if they win" was my huskies.
This will be a more entertaining game than Vegas predicts. UConn has historically beaten the spread as a home dog including 4/5 last year in their worst year ever. The only time I can remember a home loss by at least 17 points at home in recent memory was to Louisville last year.
Vegas and likely the public are vastly underestimating how poorly coached this team was the past three years.
I'm looking forward to the game to see how much progress has been made since abandoning PP and GDL, but I am realistic about my immediate expectations.

UConn doesn't have a strong running game and will reportedly try a two-QB system - at least at the start of the season. That v. BYU defense will not end well.
The Huskies' best hope is that BYU has to travel cross-country in an unknown environment.
BYU will also have to do without its leading running back, Jamaal Williams, who has been suspended for the season opener. While BYU feels that it has a stable of running backs that can fill in Williams' gap, QB Taysom Hill rushed for over 1,000 yards himself in 2013.
Also, Hill's passing game developed nicely in 2013, after starting the first 2 games at under 40% completion (both on soaked fields in storm-delayed games against UVA and Texas). Anyone who saw the BYU-Houston game in 2013 can attest to Hill's capabilities. And, BYU has added TWO 4-star JC transfer WR's and UTEP's leading 2013 receiver (grad school eligible).
Bonus factor: UConn had only 3 players who had more than 2 sacks in 2013...and all three are gone.
I'm predicting that BYU will control the game on both sides, but will struggle to pull away decisively. BYU 27, UConn 17.
Let's not forget that BYU rolls with 22 year old freshmen.

Weren't they pretty good last year??? I thought I remember them almost beating Houston even! I think Houston getting out to a decent sized lead with UTSA making a late come back to make it close isn't that far fetched!!!

houston won by 31, it was kinda close for 3 quarters but it was also okorn first away start and they got most of their yards passing and their qb graduated
i get they were decent last year and return every not the qb (most in the nation) but i feel we should still win by more than 3

This is a pretty solid list. I don't think SMU loses by quite that much. Maybe more like 17 after Baylor pulls away late. Early Bayloy lead, SMU claws back to within 10, Baylor puts it away. ;]
