We are having to build housing to hold all the reverse Okies. They are coming in droves.

If they're leftists who destroyed their own states, I'd rather you start looking into building crematoriums.

I wish we could keep them from coming here altogether. Just like they did to us in the 1920s when they sent the national guard to try and stop the Okies and Arkies from entering CA.

Destroying the country politically, economically, and now physically.
Texas is also using an unsustainable amount of water and are draining aquifers.
Atlanta has also dealt with serious droughts which caused their reservoirs to be extremely low. Charlotte has dealt with it to a slightly lesser degree in the last decade. The south is exploding with population, but our water resources are not nearly as plentiful as the northern states.
It'll be interesting to see how a lot of communities deal with this in the future. Everyone should be watching California right now to see what they do to cope with the problem and take notes on what not to do.

Texas thought they could just come take our water and the Supreme Court said no you can't.

Yeah, I read about that. Good for Oklahoma. I hope the rest of the states in the Midwest do the same thing. The huge aquifer in the middle of the country (can't remember the name of it) is having water drawn from it faster than it can be replaced. It is a vital part of agriculture and it should be protected for that purpose.

Oklahoma is not part of the midwest. Not in any fashion
You are thinking of the Ogallala in Nebraska. We are part of the Mississippi watershed.
This was a little different deal. It had to do with compact that was signed by Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana regarding the Red River. Texas basically wanted to come in and drain out Sardis Lake to meet their demands in Dallas. Sardis is a beautiful mountain lake with resorts.

Culturally I knew Oklahoma wasn't midwestern, but I thought they were still grouped in with the midwest geographically. My mistake.
Regardless of the terms of the agreement, I'm glad Texas got shut down.
Major population centers need to find their own solutions for water instead of simply pushing their problem onto other areas.
I don't know about Texas, but in my area, we have a lot of quarries that are nearing the end of their lifecycle. I'd like to see them turned into reservoirs.

Okies don't refer to themselves as midwestern, nor do people in the midwest claim us. Depending on what side of I35 you are standing on, you will hear "we are southern," or "we are southwestern." We are part of the west south central grouped with Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana.
California's problem is due to mismanagement, environmental groups and drought. They spend a lot of money of things they could be spending on purification of salt water.
Texas on the other hand is experiencing a demand overload - a lot of that has to do with Californians fleeing their dried out state.
Both Texas and Oklahoma just got a bunch of rain, so hopefully their reservoirs and lakes are at least partially replenished.
We had an unusually dry spring. The lake by my house(which supplies water for the entire NW segment of OKC was so low, you could see the muddy bottom all the way across.
It is now near normal levels

We got over 4 inches last week.

we are no longer in a drought. Only Western OK remains under their average.

TX didn't, at least not from what I was able to discern from weather sites.

Surprised any of the Carolinas are in any stage of drought. The last two summers here have been really wet. We have gotten rain at least 3 times almost every week this summer.

But this is an artificially created problem that is solvable. Unfortunately, environmental intractability has strangled the creation of new reservoirs, power plant and reverse osmosis facilities.
But some in California are getting with the plan as there is a new RO Plant being built near San Diego.
There should be one of these in the Southeast US and in the Midwest there needs to be a fairly large reservoir in Nebraska/Kansas to collect the Missouri flood waters and alleviate pressure on the Ogallala Aquifer.

I thought north Texas and Dallas got hit with the same system last week.
We have had a wet summer. Last year was even wetter.
